King Dodongo, the colossal fire-breathing dinosaur, stands as a formidable guardian within Dodongo's Cavern. To overcome this fiery foe, a precise and timely strategy is essential. When King Dodongo prepares to unleash his devastating fire breath, a crucial window of opportunity arises. This is the moment to act decisively and toss a Bomb directly into his gaping maw. Successfully landing a Bomb will stun the beast, leaving him vulnerable to attack. Seize this chance to rush forward and unleash a flurry of strikes upon his head with your trusty Kokiri Sword. This initial assault will trigger his next phase of attack.
Following the stun, King Dodongo will curl into a massive ball and begin to roll erratically around the arena. Navigating this rolling onslaught requires careful positioning. You must position yourself within one of the desated safe alcoves scattered throughout the cavernous battleground. These alcoves provide temporary refuge from his destructive rolling attack. Once he has completed his roll and comes to a stop, he will once again be susceptible to your attacks. Repeat the process of baiting his fire breath, stunning him with a Bomb, and then attacking his head with your Kokiri Sword. Persistence and accurate Bomb throws are key to depleting his health and ultimately defeating him.
A common pitfall for players is misjudging the timing of the Bomb throw, either too early or too late, resulting in the attack missing or King Dodongo not being stunned. Another mistake is attempting to attack him while he is rolling, which will inevitably lead to taking damage. Remember to utilize the environment to your advantage by seeking shelter in the alcoves.
