Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Welcome, aspiring hero! This section addresses some of the most common dilemmas and questions players encounter during their journey through Hyrule. Whether you're stuck on a puzzle, searching for a crucial item, or just need a refresher, you'll find detailed answers here.
How do I get the Hookshot?
The Hookshot is an essential item for traversing many areas and solving numerous puzzles. You obtain it as Adult Link:
- Enter Kakariko Village: As Adult Link, head to Kakariko Village.
- Visit the Graveyard: Go to the graveyard located in the eastern part of the village.
- Speak with Dampé: Dampé the gravekeeper will be running around the graveyard at night. Catch him and speak with him. He will challenge you to a race.
- Win Dampé's Race: Follow Dampé through the maze of graves. Be careful not to lose too much ground. If you win, he will lead you into a secret cave.
- Obtain the Hookshot: Inside the cave, Dampé will reward you with the Hookshot. This item allows you to grapple onto wooden targets and specific walls, pulling Link across gaps or up to higher ledges.
Where can I find all four Bottles?
Bottles are incredibly useful for carrying various liquids, fairies, or even fish. Here's how to collect all four:
- Bottle #1: Lon Lon Ranch (Child Link)
- Location: Lon Lon Ranch, Hyrule Field.
- Steps: As Child Link, enter the ranch and find Malon. Speak to her multiple times until she gives you a Cucco Egg. Wait for the egg to hatch into a Cucco. Use the Cucco to wake up Talon in the house. As a reward for waking him, he will give you the empty bottle.
- Bottle #2: Zora's River (Child Link)
- Location: Zora's River, leading to Zora's Domain.
- Steps: As Child Link, navigate up Zora's River. You'll find a series of frogs on lily pads. Play the Song of Storms for them. They will reward you with a bottle containing a Red Potion.
- Bottle #3: Lake Hylia (Adult Link)
- Location: Lake Hylia.
- Steps: As Adult Link, warp to Lake Hylia using the Serenade of Water. Dive into the lake near the Lakeside Laboratory. You'll find a Bottle containing a Letter from Ruto. This bottle is automatically added to your inventory after reading the letter.
- Bottle #4: Kakariko Village (Adult Link)
- Location: Kakariko Village.
- Steps: As Adult Link, complete the Big Poes side quest. Ride Epona across Hyrule Field and defeat ten Big Poes (large, purple ghosts) with your Bow. Collect their spirits in empty bottles. Take all ten Big Poe spirits to the Poe Collector in the Kakariko Village Guard House. He will reward you with the final Bottle.
How do I get Epona, Link's horse?
Epona is your loyal steed and significantly speeds up travel across Hyrule Field as Adult Link:
- Learn Epona's Song (Child Link): As Child Link, visit Lon Lon Ranch. Go into the stable and talk to Malon. She will teach you Epona's Song.
- Return as Adult Link: After becoming Adult Link, revisit Lon Lon Ranch.
- Challenge Ingo: Ingo will now own the ranch. Pay him 10 Rupees to ride a horse.
- Play Epona's Song: While riding, play Epona's Song. Epona will come to you.
- Race Ingo: Speak to Ingo again and challenge him to a race for 50 Rupees. You must win twice in a row. Use carrots (A button) strategically to maintain speed, but don't deplete Epona's stamina completely.
- Escape the Ranch: After winning the second race, Ingo will lock the gate. Ride Epona towards any of the fences surrounding the ranch and jump over them to escape. Epona is now yours!
What are the Golden Skulltulas and why should I collect them?
Golden Skulltulas are spider-like creatures found hidden throughout Hyrule. Each one you defeat drops a Gold Skulltula Token. Collecting these tokens offers valuable rewards from the House of Skulltula in Kakariko Village:
- Location: The House of Skulltula is the cursed house in Kakariko Village, where a family has been transformed into Skulltulas.
- Rewards: As you collect more tokens, members of the cursed family will be freed, and they will give you rewards:
- 10 Tokens: Adult Wallet (holds up to 200 Rupees)
- 20 Tokens: Stone of Agony (rumble feature for hidden secrets)
- 30 Tokens: Giant's Wallet (holds up to 500 Rupees)
- 40 Tokens: Bombchus (remote-controlled bombs)
- 50 Tokens: Piece of Heart
- 100 Tokens: Huge Rupee (200 Rupees, repeatable)
- Strategy: Many Skulltulas are hidden in plain sight, but some require specific items like the Hookshot, Boomerang, or Scarecrow's Song to reach. Listen for their distinctive skittering sound to pinpoint their location.
