Trading Sequence Walkthrough

The trading sequence in Ocarina of Time is a lengthy but rewarding chain of item exchanges that ultimately leads to obtaining the Biggoron's Sword. It begins as Child Link and continues into your adult form.

  1. Pocket Cucco: Start by obtaining the Pocket Cucco from the Cucco Lady in Kakariko Village.
  2. Odd Mushroom: Trade the Pocket Cucco to the man in the Lost Woods (he's near the entrance to the Forest Temple area). He will give you the Odd Mushroom.
  3. Broken Sword: Take the Odd Mushroom to the Apothecary in Kakariko Village. The owner will give you the Broken Sword in exchange.
  4. Chateau Romani: As Adult Link, return to Lon Lon Ranch. Speak to Malon, and she will teach you Epona's Song. Then, speak to Talon, and he will let you in the ranch at night. Go to the barn and win the race against Ingo to get Epona. After that, speak to the man at the counter in the Lon Lon Ranch house to get the Big Poe.
  5. Poison Bag: Trade the Broken Sword to the man in the Lost Woods (the same one you traded the Cucco to). He will give you the Poison Bag.
  6. Special Potion: Take the Poison Bag to the Apothecary in Kakariko Village. You will receive the Special Potion.
  7. Blue Potion: Trade the Special Potion to the man in the Gerudo Valley (near the bridge). He will give you the Blue Potion.
  8. Zora Tunic: As Adult Link, return to Zora's Domain. Speak to King Zora, and he will give you the Zora Tunic.
  9. Goron Tunic: As Adult Link, go to Goron City. Speak to the Goron elder, and he will give you the Goron Tunic.
  10. Odd Potion: Trade the Blue Potion to the man in the Gerudo Fortress (the one who is tied up). He will give you the Odd Potion.
  11. Prescription: Take the Odd Potion to the Apothecary in Kakariko Village. You will receive the Prescription.
  12. Eyeball Frog: Trade the Prescription to the man in Lake Hylia. He will give you the Eyeball Frog.
  13. Biggoron's Sword: As Adult Link, go to Death Mountain and speak to Biggoron. If you have completed all the previous trades and have the Prescription, he will give you the Biggoron's Sword.
