Dungeon 4: Skull Dungeon

Welcome, brave hero, to the chilling depths of the Skull Dungeon! This dungeon, located in the past, will test your wits and your mastery of your current arsenal. Be prepared for tricky puzzles and formidable foes. Your primary goal here is to obtain the Power Bracelet, which will allow you to move heavy objects.

Entering the Dungeon and Initial Exploration

  • From the dungeon entrance, proceed directly north into the next room.
  • Here, you'll encounter a few enemies. Dispatch them and then head through the door on the right.
  • In this room, you'll find a Small Key. Collect it and then return to the previous room.
  • Now, use your newly acquired Small Key on the locked door to the north.

Navigating the Eastern Wing

  • In the next room, you'll face some Stalfos. Defeat them and then push the block in the center to open the path to the east.
  • Head east. You'll find yourself in a room with a few more enemies and a switch. Hit the switch to open the door to the north.
  • Proceed north. In this room, you'll encounter a new enemy type: the Wallmaster. These hands drop from the ceiling and try to grab you, returning you to the dungeon entrance if successful. Be quick and defeat them.
  • After clearing the Wallmasters, a Small Key will appear. Grab it.
  • Return south two rooms, then head west back to the central area where you used your first key.

Unlocking the Western Path and Dungeon Item

  • From the central room, use your second Small Key on the locked block to the west. This will open a path.
  • Head west. You'll enter a room with a series of moving platforms and a gap. Carefully navigate across the platforms.
  • On the other side, you'll find a chest containing the Dungeon Map. This will be invaluable for navigating the rest of the Skull Dungeon.
  • Continue west into the next room. Here, you'll find a mini-boss: a large, armored Stalfos.
  • Mini-Boss Strategy: This Stalfos is protected by armor. You'll need to use your Bombs to break its armor. Once its armor is shattered, attack it with your sword. Repeat this process until it's defeated.
  • Upon defeating the mini-boss, a portal will appear, allowing you to warp back to the dungeon entrance, and a door to the north will open.
  • Head north through the newly opened door.
  • In this room, you'll find a chest containing the dungeon's main item: the Power Bracelet! Equip it immediately.

Reaching the Boss Key

  • With the Power Bracelet, return to the room where you fought the mini-boss.
  • Now, head south from the mini-boss room. You'll find a room with a large, heavy block. Use your Power Bracelet to lift and move this block, revealing a staircase.
  • Descend the staircase. You'll enter an underground passage. Navigate through this passage, being mindful of any enemies.
  • At the end of the passage, you'll emerge in a new section of the dungeon.
  • In this room, you'll find a few enemies and a series of unlit torches. Use your Seed Shooter with Ember Seeds to light all the torches.
  • Once all torches are lit, a Small Key will appear. Collect it.
  • Head through the door to the east. You'll find a room with several blocks and a switch. Push the blocks to create a path to the switch, then hit it. This will open a door.
  • Go through the newly opened door to the north. You'll be in a room with a series of conveyor belts and a few enemies. Carefully make your way across.
  • In the next room, you'll find the Boss Key in a chest!

Confronting the Boss

  • With the Boss Key in hand, retrace your steps back to the central room of the dungeon (where you used your first Small Key).
  • From this central room, head south. You'll find a large, skull-shaped door. This is the entrance to the boss chamber.
  • Use your Boss Key to unlock the door and enter.
  • Prepare yourself for the dungeon boss: Gohma!
  • Boss Strategy: Gohma is a giant one-eyed spider. Its main attack is to drop smaller Gohma larvae from the ceiling. Your primary goal is to hit its eye when it's open. When Gohma's eye is closed, it's invulnerable. Use your Seed Shooter with Ember Seeds to stun it, or wait for it to open its eye after an attack. Once its eye is open, hit it with your sword or a well-placed Seed. Repeat this process until Gohma is defeated.
  • Upon defeating Gohma, collect the Heart Container and then step into the warp portal to claim the fourth Essence of Time: the Crown Dungeon.
