Shields

Shields are essential for defense against projectiles and certain enemy attacks.

• Wooden Shield: Your starting shield. Can block small projectiles like Octorok rocks.
• Iron Shield: An upgraded shield that can block more powerful projectiles, including fireballs. Obtained from a shop or as a reward.

While shields are not equipped to the A or B button, they are automatically used when Link is facing the direction of an incoming projectile. The Iron Shield is a significant upgrade, making many enemy encounters much safer. Always try to acquire it as soon as possible.
