Upon starting a new game, Link will awaken in a forest. Head north to find a dancing girl, Din, and her animal companions. After a short dance, the General of Darkness, Onox, will appear, kidnap Din, and plunge Holodrum into chaos by disrupting the seasons. You will then be tasked by the Maku Tree to collect the eight Essences of Nature. Your first destination is the town of Horon Village. Follow the path east and then north, defeating any Octoroks or Peahats you encounter. pick up any Rupees dropped by enemies or found in bushes. Explore Horon Village to gather information and purchase any initial supplies if you have enough Rupees, though it's not strictly necessary at this point.
