Holodrum is a land teeming with unique individuals, each playing a vital role in Link's quest to restore the seasons and defeat the forces of darkness. Understanding their motivations and locations is key to navigating the world and progressing through the story.

Major Characters

These characters are central to the main storyline and will be encountered multiple times throughout your adventure.

  • Link

The hero chosen by the Triforce, Link is transported to Holodrum to prevent the destruction of the land. His primary role is to collect the eight Essences of Nature and defeat Onox. You control Link, so his actions are your actions!

    • Key Items: Wooden Sword (starting), Shield (starting), Power Bracelet (Dungeon 1), Roc's Feather (Dungeon 2), Slingshot (Dungeon 3), Magnetic Gloves (Dungeon 4), Flippers (Dungeon 5), Seed Shooter (Dungeon 6), Hyper Slingshot (Dungeon 7), Roc's Cape (Dungeon 8), Master Sword (linked game).
    • Progression Tip: Always check your map for unexplored areas and remember to use your Rod of Seasons to change the environment to access new paths.
  • Din

The Oracle of Seasons and the beautiful dancer who initially captivates Link. She is kidnapped by Onox, causing the seasons of Holodrum to fall into chaos. Rescuing her is Link's ultimate goal.

    • Location: Initially found dancing in the Western Woods. After her abduction, she is imprisoned in Onox's Castle.
    • Role: The catalyst for the main quest. Her capture is what drives the story forward.
  • Onox, General of Darkness

The main antagonist of Oracle of Seasons. Onox kidnaps Din and plunges Holodrum into an eternal autumn, then winter, and eventually a chaotic mix of seasons. He commands powerful Moblins and other dark creatures.

    • Location: His fortress, Onox's Castle, is the final dungeon.
    • Strategy: Defeating Onox requires mastering your sword techniques and utilizing the various items you've collected. His first form is a straightforward sword fight, but his dragon form requires precise timing with your sword and Roc's Cape to dodge and counter-attack.
  • Impa

Princess Zelda's attendant, Impa is a wise and strong woman who guides Link in the early stages of his adventure. She reveals Din's identity and the prophecy of the Oracle.

    • Location: Horon Village, just north of the town square.
    • Progression Tip: After each dungeon, return to the Maku Tree. She will often reveal the location of the next dungeon or provide hints for your next objective.

Supporting Characters & Merchants

These characters offer assistance, items, or side quests that enrich your journey through Holodrum.

A race of shy, subterranean creatures who inhabit Subrosia. They are generally friendly and have their own unique culture, including a love for Gasha Seeds and a currency of Ore Chunks.

    • Location: Subrosia, accessible via various portals throughout Holodrum (e.g., the portal near the Horon Village Shop, or the one in the Western Woods after obtaining the Power Bracelet).
    • Key Interactions:
      • Subrosian Shop: Found in Subrosia Village. Here you can buy items like Bombs, Mystery Seeds, and even a new Shield if yours is lost.

  • Maple

A young witch's apprentice who frequently crashes into Link, causing items to scatter. She's a good source of recovery items and occasionally rare rings.

    • Location: Appears randomly on various screens after defeating a certain number of enemies (usually 30).
    • Strategy: When you collide with Maple, quickly collect the items that scatter. Prioritize any Rings or Potions that appear, as they are less common.
  • Symmetry Village Residents

The inhabitants of Symmetry Village are obsessed with balance. Their problems often involve restoring symmetry to their environment.

    • Location: Symmetry Village, located in the eastern part of Holodrum.
    • Key Quest: You'll need to help them restore the Tarm Ruins to balance by moving the statues, which requires the Power Bracelet and later the Magnetic Gloves. This is crucial for accessing the fourth dungeon, the Dancing Dragon Dungeon.

Several old men are scattered across Holodrum, often providing cryptic hints, mini-games, or acting as quest givers.

    • Location: Examples include the old man in the cave near the Eastern Suburbs who gives you the Power Bracelet, or the one in Sunken City who challenges you to a diving game for a Piece of Heart.
    • Strategy: Always talk to every NPC, especially those in caves or isolated houses. They often hold valuable information or items.
