Welcome to the Oracle of Seasons FAQ! This section addresses common player queries, offering detailed solutions and strategies to help you navigate the challenging lands of Holodrum.
How do I get past the Maku Tree's thorns in Horon Village?
Early in your adventure, you'll encounter the Maku Tree, whose base is surrounded by thorny vines, blocking your path. To clear these, you'll need a specific item:
- Item Needed: The Power Bracelet.
- Location: The Power Bracelet is found in the Gnarled Root Dungeon, the first dungeon in the game. You'll obtain it after defeating the dungeon's mini-boss, the Goponga Swamp Monster.
- Strategy: Once you have the Power Bracelet, return to the Maku Tree. Equip the bracelet and approach the small, dark green bushes (these are actually small trees) near the thorns. Use the Power Bracelet to lift and throw these bushes. This will clear a path through the thorns, allowing you to speak with the Maku Tree and advance the story.
Where can I find a Boomerang?
The Boomerang is a versatile item for stunning enemies and retrieving distant items. It's not found in a dungeon, but rather through a side quest:
- Location: The Boomerang is located in the Subrosian Dance Hall in Subrosia.
- Steps:
- First, you need to gain access to Subrosia. This typically happens after you've completed the Gnarled Root Dungeon and obtained the Rod of Seasons.
- Travel to Subrosia. The most common way to enter Subrosia early on is through the portal in the Eastern Suburbs of Holodrum, accessible after changing the season to Summer to dry up the river.
- Once in Subrosia, head to the Subrosian Dance Hall, which is located in the central-eastern part of Subrosia.
- Inside, speak to the Subrosian who is dancing. They will challenge you to a dance-off.
- Successfully complete the dance sequence by mimicking the Subrosian's moves. If you succeed, you will be rewarded with the Boomerang. Practice makes perfect if you struggle with the rhythm!
I'm stuck in the Sunken City and can't reach the Mermaid's Cave. What do I do?
The Sunken City can be tricky due to its flooded nature. To access the Mermaid's Cave, you'll need to manipulate the water levels:
- Item Needed: The Flippers (also known as Zora's Flippers).
- Location: The Flippers are found in the Dancing Dragon Dungeon, the fourth dungeon in the game. You'll acquire them after defeating the dungeon's mini-boss, the Syger.
- Strategy:
- After obtaining the Flippers, you can now swim in deep water.
- Travel to the Sunken City.
- Locate the Season Shrine in the Sunken City. This shrine allows you to change the season to Winter.
- Use the Rod of Seasons at the Season Shrine to change the season to Winter.
- When it's Winter, the water in the Sunken City will freeze over. This allows you to walk across areas that were previously impassable deep water.
- Navigate the frozen Sunken City to reach the entrance of the Mermaid's Cave, which is typically located in the northern part of the city.
How do I get the Roc's Cape?
The Roc's Cape is a crucial item that allows Link to jump over gaps and even glide short distances, making many areas accessible. It's a dungeon item:
- Location: The Roc's Cape is found in the Unicorn's Cave, the fifth dungeon in the game.
- Strategy: Progress through the Unicorn's Cave as usual, solving puzzles and defeating enemies. The Roc's Cape is typically found in a chest after defeating a mid-dungeon mini-boss or solving a significant puzzle. Once acquired, you can use it by assigning it to one of your item slots (A or B button). It's essential for navigating the later parts of this dungeon and many subsequent areas.
