Boss Strategies (Detailed)
Stagnox, the Armored Beetle
Stagnox is the first true boss you'll encounter, found at the end of the Forest Temple. This armored beetle requires a keen eye and precise use of your newly acquired Whirlwind.
- Phase 1: Exposing the Weak Point
Stagnox will begin by charging around the arena. Your primary goal is to flip him over to expose his vulnerable underside. To do this, wait for Stagnox to charge past one of the large, sturdy pillars in the arena. As he passes, use your Whirlwind (obtained from the Forest Temple) to blow him into the pillar. This will momentarily stun him and flip him onto his back.
- Phase 2: Attacking the Belly
Once Stagnox is on his back, his soft, glowing belly will be exposed. Immediately switch to your Sword and unleash a flurry of attacks. Aim for as many hits as possible before he rights himself. Repeat this process several times until he enters his second phase.
- Phase 3: Beetle Swarm and Final Blows
In this phase, Stagnox will occasionally release a swarm of smaller beetles. These can be annoying, but they also serve a purpose. Use your Whirlwind to blow these smaller beetles into Stagnox. This will stun him, allowing you to once again flip him over by blowing him into a pillar and then attack his belly with your Sword. Continue this pattern of stunning, flipping, and attacking until Stagnox is defeated.
Key Items: Whirlwind, Sword
Fulguro, the Lightning Beast
Fulguro, the boss of the Snow Temple, is a large, electrically charged beast that demands quick reflexes and strategic use of your Boomerang.
- Phase 1: Targeting the Tails
Fulguro will move around the arena, occasionally stopping to unleash lightning attacks. Notice the three glowing segments on his tail. These are your targets. Use your Boomerang (acquired in the Snow Temple) to target and hit each of these segments. You'll need to draw a path for the Boomerang that avoids Fulguro's body and any obstacles. Once all three segments are hit, Fulguro will be momentarily stunned.
- Phase 2: Striking the Core
When Fulguro is stunned, his main body will glow brightly, revealing a vulnerable core. Quickly switch to your Sword and rush in to deliver as many strikes as you can before he recovers. Be mindful of his recovery animation, as he can still damage you if you're too close.
- Phase 3: Electric Orbs and Repeat
As you deal damage, Fulguro will become more aggressive, often releasing electric orbs that bounce around the arena. These can be destroyed with your Boomerang or avoided. Continue to target his tail segments with the Boomerang, stun him, and then attack his core with your Sword. The battle is a test of patience and precision with your Boomerang paths.

Cragma, the Lava Lord
Cragma, the formidable boss of the Fire Temple, is a massive, fiery golem that requires the combined efforts of Link and Zelda (in Phantom form) and the precise use of the Bow.
- Phase 1: Weak Point on the Back
Cragma will stomp around the arena, occasionally slamming his fists down. His primary weak point is a glowing spot on his back. To reach this, you'll need to use Zelda as a Phantom. Command Zelda to stand on one of the geysers of steam that periodically erupt from the ground. When the geyser launches her into the air, quickly switch to Link and use your Bow (found in the Fire Temple) to shoot the glowing spot on Cragma's back. This will stun him.
- Phase 2: Climbing and Bombing
Once Cragma is stunned, he will fall forward, creating a ramp on his back. Quickly switch to Link and run up his back. At the top, you'll find a large, glowing eye. This is your main target. Equip your Bombs (if you have them, otherwise use the bomb flowers found nearby) and toss them into his eye. Repeat this process several times.
- Phase 3: Boulder Barrage and Final Assault
As Cragma takes more damage, he will start to throw large boulders at you. These can be destroyed with your Sword or avoided. The strategy remains the same: use Zelda on a geyser to expose his back, shoot the weak point with your Bow, climb his back, and throw Bombs into his eye. Timing is crucial in this fight, especially when coordinating Link and Zelda's actions.
