Upon starting a new game, you will be prompted to enter your name. This name will be used for Link throughout the adventure. While there isn't extensive character customization beyond this, choosing a name is a classic Zelda tradition. The game allows for up to 8 characters for your name. Take a moment to decide, as this name will be permanently associated with your save file. There are three save slots available, allowing you to have multiple playthroughs or for different players to enjoy the game on the same cartridge. Once you've entered your name, the adventure truly begins!
While naming Link remains a core tradition in Spirit Tracks, it lacks the unique Easter eggs found in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, where specific names trigger hidden musical remixes.
Much like in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, the name you choose for Link in this sequel will also represent your multiplayer profile during Battle Mode matches.
