Tower of Spirits (First Visit)

Your initial foray into the Tower of Spirits is more of a tutorial than a full dungeon, but it's crucial for understanding the mechanics of controlling both Link and Phantom Zelda.

  • Floor 1F:
    • Upon entering, head north. You'll encounter a locked door.
    • To the west, you'll find a small room with a switch. Have Link step on it to open the door to the east.
    • Proceed east, defeat the single Keese, and collect the Small Key from the chest.
    • Return to the locked door and use the Small Key to unlock it.
    • Head up the stairs to 2F.
  • Floor 2F:
    • Here, you'll meet Phantom Zelda. She'll explain how to possess a Phantom.
    • Draw a path with your stylus from Zelda to the Phantom to have her possess it.
    • As Phantom Zelda, walk onto the pressure plate to the north. This will open the gate for Link.
    • Have Link walk through the gate and stand on the second pressure plate.
    • With both Link and Phantom Zelda on their respective plates, the door to the north will open.
    • Proceed through the door and up the stairs to 3F.
  • Floor 3F:
    • You'll encounter a series of unlit torches and a locked door.
    • To the west, there's a small room with a chest containing the Boomerang. This is your first dungeon item!
    • Equip the Boomerang. You'll notice three unlit torches. Draw a path from Link to one torch, then to a second, and finally to the third. The Boomerang will light all three, opening the door.
    • Head through the newly opened door and up the stairs.
  • Floor 4F:
    • This floor introduces the concept of attacking enemies with Phantom Zelda.
    • There are two Stalfos Knights. Have Phantom Zelda engage one while Link attacks the other with his sword. Remember, Link can only damage them from behind after Phantom Zelda has distracted them.
    • Once both Stalfos are defeated, the path forward will open.
    • Proceed to the next floor to continue your ascent.

Forest Temple

The Forest Temple is your first true dungeon, introducing more complex puzzles and the first boss battle. You'll need the Boomerang for many of its challenges.

Floor 1F

  • From the entrance, head north. You'll find a room with a large, unlit torch in the center.
  • To the east, there's a small passage blocked by a wooden barrier. Use your Boomerang to hit the switch on the other side, lowering the barrier.
  • In this eastern room, defeat the two Deku Babas and collect the Small Key from the chest.
  • Return to the main room and use the Small Key on the locked door to the west.
  • Proceed through the door. You'll find a room with a series of moving platforms. Carefully navigate across them to the north side.
  • Head up the stairs to 2F.

Floor 2F

  • You'll immediately notice a large fan in the center of the room. This fan will be crucial for later puzzles.
  • To the east, there's a path blocked by a gust of wind. You can't pass yet.
  • Head west. You'll enter a room with several unlit torches and a locked door.
  • Use your Boomerang to light the torches in the correct order (usually indicated by a nearby hint or pattern) to unlock the door. If you're stuck, try lighting them in a clockwise or counter-clockwise fashion, or look for a subtle visual cue.
  • Through the unlocked door, you'll find a chest containing the Whirlwind. This is your primary tool for this dungeon!
  • Return to the room with the large fan. Use the Whirlwind on the fan to activate it, creating a powerful updraft.
  • Now, head back to the eastern path that was blocked by wind. Use the Whirlwind to clear the gust, allowing you to pass.
  • In this eastern area, you'll find a series of platforms. Use the Whirlwind to propel yourself across gaps by aiming at the sails on the platforms.
  • Reach the far side and go up the stairs to 3F.

Floor 3F

  • This floor features more intricate Whirlwind puzzles.
  • You'll encounter several unlit torches that are too far for the Boomerang. Use the Whirlwind to blow a nearby flame (from a lit torch or a fire-breathing enemy) onto the unlit torches.
  • There's a room with a large block that needs to be pushed. Look for a small hole in the wall. Use the Whirlwind to blow air through the hole, pushing the block into position.
  • Eventually, you'll reach a room with a large, central platform and four switches surrounding it.
  • You'll need to use the Whirlwind to activate these switches simultaneously. Position yourself carefully and aim your Whirlwind to hit all four at once. This can be tricky; practice your aiming!
  • Activating all four switches will open the path to the boss door.
  • Before entering the boss room, make sure you have full health and any available potions.

Boss: Stagnox, the Armored Beetle

  • Phase 1: Stagnox will charge at you. When he does, use your Whirlwind to blow away the armor on his back, revealing a weak point.
  • Once the weak point is exposed, quickly switch to your sword and attack it repeatedly.
  • He will occasionally summon smaller beetles. Defeat them for hearts if needed.
  • Phase 2: After taking enough damage, Stagnox will change tactics. He'll start flying around the arena.
  • When he flies overhead, look for an opening. Use your Boomerang to hit the weak point on his underside. This will cause him to fall to the ground, stunned.
  • Rush in and attack his weak point with your sword.
  • Repeat these steps until Stagnox is defeated.
  • Upon victory, collect the Force Gem and activate the Spirit Track to the next region!
