Puzzle Solutions
Welcome, aspiring engineer! This section is dedicated to guiding you through some of the more intricate puzzles you'll encounter on your journey across New Hyrule. From manipulating ancient mechanisms to deciphering cryptic clues, we've got you covered. Remember, sometimes the solution is right in front of you, and other times, it requires a bit of creative thinking with your trusty items.
Forest Temple: Eye Statue Puzzle
Deep within the Forest Temple, you'll encounter a room with several large eye statues that seem to be watching your every move. This puzzle requires precise use of your Whirlwind to activate them in the correct sequence.
- Location: Forest Temple, 3F, central chamber.
- Items Needed: Whirlwind.
- Strategy:
- Observe the room carefully. You'll notice four eye statues positioned around a central platform. One of these statues will occasionally blink or have a slightly different glow. This indicates the starting point.
- Once you identify the first active eye, use your Whirlwind to blow a gust of wind directly into its eye. This will cause it to light up and activate the next statue in the sequence.
- The sequence is typically clockwise or counter-clockwise, but pay close attention to which eye activates next. Some sequences might skip an eye.
- Continue using the Whirlwind on each activated eye in the correct order until all four are lit.
- Upon successful completion, a door will open, or a platform will rise, granting you access to the next area. If you make a mistake, the statues will reset, and you'll need to start over.
Snow Temple: Ice Block Sliding Puzzle
The Snow Temple presents a classic sliding block puzzle, but with an icy twist. You'll need to strategically move ice blocks to create a path across a frozen chasm.
- Location: Snow Temple, B1, large icy chamber with a gap.
- Items Needed: Boomerang (for hitting switches), Spirit Flute (for specific melodies if applicable, though not for the core sliding).
- Strategy:
- Enter the chamber and assess the layout. You'll see several large ice blocks and a series of pressure plates or switches on the far side. Your goal is to push the ice blocks onto these plates.
- Ice blocks will slide until they hit another block or a wall. Plan your moves carefully to avoid trapping blocks in unhelpful positions.
- Initial Setup: Typically, you'll need to push a block from one side to the other to create a bridge or activate a switch. Look for any single blocks that can be moved first to clear a path.
- Using the Boomerang: Some switches might be out of reach. Use your Boomerang to hit these switches, which might temporarily melt an ice block, change its direction, or open a gate that allows further movement.
- Creating a Path: The ultimate goal is to create a continuous path of ice blocks that allows Link to walk across to the exit or the next set of switches. This often involves pushing blocks into specific depressions or onto pressure plates.
- Resetting: If you get stuck, simply exit the room and re-enter to reset the puzzle. Don't be afraid to experiment!
Ocean Temple: Water Level Control
The Ocean Temple features several rooms where you must manipulate the water level to progress. This often involves using switches and the Boomerang to hit distant targets.
- Location: Various rooms within the Ocean Temple.
- Items Needed: Boomerang, Spirit Flute (for certain melodies).
- Strategy:
- Water Valves/Switches: Look for large valves or switches, often adorned with a water droplet symbol. Hitting these with your Boomerang or striking them with your sword will typically raise or lower the water level in the immediate area or an adjacent room.
- Distant Switches: Many water-level puzzles require hitting switches that are out of direct reach. Use the Boomerang to target these switches, drawing a path on the touchscreen to guide its flight. Remember, the Boomerang can bounce off walls and corners, allowing for complex trajectories.
- Reaching New Areas: Raising the water level might allow you to swim to previously inaccessible platforms or areas. Lowering it might reveal hidden passages or allow you to walk across the dry seabed.
- Combining Actions: Some puzzles require a sequence of actions. For example, you might need to raise the water, swim to a new platform, then lower the water to reveal a path below, all while hitting switches with your Boomerang.
- Spirit Flute Melodies: In some instances, playing a specific melody on the Spirit Flute might activate a water-related mechanism, such as causing a geyser to erupt or a waterfall to cease. Pay attention to any musical notes or symbols in the environment.
