Walkthrough: Forest Realm
Welcome to the Forest Realm, a verdant land filled with ancient trees, hidden secrets, and the first true challenges of your adventure. This section will guide you through every step, ensuring you uncover all its mysteries and progress toward restoring the Spirit Tracks.
Entering the Forest Realm
After your initial journey from Aboda Village and the harrowing experience at the Tower of Spirits, you'll find yourself at the entrance to the Forest Realm. Your primary goal here is to reach the Forest Sanctuary and meet the Lokomo Sage, Gage.
- Follow the Tracks: From the Forest Realm entrance, simply follow the established Spirit Tracks. The path is linear at first, guiding your train through the lush landscape.
- Encountering Enemies: Be prepared for your first encounters with enemies on the tracks.
- Armored Train: These armored foes will attempt to ram your train. Use your cannon to shoot their weak points (usually the front or sides) before they get too close. Aim carefully!
- Spinning Tops (Stalfos): These enemies will appear on the tracks and can damage your train if you collide with them. Fire your cannon to destroy them from a distance.
- Navigating the First Junction: You'll soon reach a junction. The main path continues straight, but there's often a side track leading to a small area with a treasure chest or a rupee pickup. It's always a good idea to explore these detours for valuable items.
Forest Village
Your journey through the initial tracks will lead you directly to Forest Village, a peaceful settlement nestled deep within the woods. This village serves as a crucial hub for your early adventure.
- Talk to Villagers: Upon arriving, take some time to speak with the villagers. They often provide helpful hints, local gossip, and sometimes even side quests or items. Look for anyone with a speech bubble above their head.
- Visit the Shop: The village shop is an essential stop. Here you can purchase various items that will aid you on your quest:
- Potions: Always keep a few in stock for emergencies.
- Bombs: While not immediately necessary, bombs are invaluable for breaking cracked walls and solving puzzles later on.
- Quiver Upgrade: If available, prioritize purchasing a Quiver Upgrade to increase your arrow capacity.
- Locate the Forest Sanctuary Entrance: Your main objective in Forest Village is to find the path to the Forest Sanctuary. Speak to the village elder or other key NPCs; they will point you in the right direction. The entrance is typically located on the northern side of the village.
Path to the Forest Sanctuary
The path to the Forest Sanctuary is not a straightforward train ride. You'll need to disembark and navigate a short dungeon-like area on foot with Princess Zelda's spirit by your side.
- Utilize Zelda's Spirit: This is your first real opportunity to use Zelda's spirit to possess Phantom Knights.
- Possessing a Phantom: Tap on Zelda's spirit, then tap on a Phantom Knight to have her possess it. The possessed Phantom will now follow your commands.
- Phantom Abilities: The standard Phantom Knight can withstand enemy attacks, activate floor switches, and block projectiles.
- Solving Puzzles:
- Floor Switches: Use the possessed Phantom to stand on heavy floor switches, often opening doors or activating mechanisms.
- Enemy Encounters: You'll face various enemies like Keese and Deku Babas. Use your sword to defeat them. If a Phantom is present, it can draw enemy attention or block attacks.
- Blocked Paths: Look for cracked walls that can be destroyed with bombs. If you don't have bombs yet, there might be a Bomb Flower nearby or a puzzle solution that doesn't require them immediately.
- Navigating the Maze: The path can be a bit winding. Pay attention to your map on the top screen. Your goal is to reach the large double doors leading to the Forest Sanctuary.
Forest Sanctuary
Upon entering the Forest Sanctuary, you will finally meet Gage, the Lokomo Sage of the Forest Realm. He holds vital information and will provide you with the next steps in your quest.
- Speak with Gage: Approach Gage and initiate a conversation. He will explain the situation with the Spirit Tracks and the need to restore the Spirit Flute.
- Learn the Song of Awakening: Gage will teach you the first song for your Spirit Flute: the Song of Awakening. This is a crucial item for progressing. Pay close attention to the notes and practice playing it correctly.
- Playing the Spirit Flute: To play, tap the flute icon, then blow into the microphone while touching the corresponding note pipes on the screen. Timing and breath control are key.
- Receive the Force Gem: After successfully playing the Song of Awakening, Gage will reward you with a Force Gem. This gem is essential for restoring a section of the Spirit Tracks.
With the Force Gem in hand and the Song of Awakening learned, you are now ready to return to your train and continue your journey, as new Spirit Tracks will have appeared on your map, leading to the next challenge!
