Walkthrough: Snow Realm
Welcome, conductor, to the frigid expanse of the Snow Realm! This guide will navigate you through its icy challenges and lead you to the next Spirit Tower rail segment.
Reaching the Snow Sanctuary
Your immediate goal upon entering the Snow Realm is to reach the Snow Sanctuary. The journey here can be perilous, so stay vigilant.
- Initial Path: From the entrance, follow the tracks generally northward. You'll encounter several enemies, primarily Ice Keese and Armos. Use your Cannon to dispatch them quickly.
- Avoiding Avalanches: Be aware of areas marked on your map with potential avalanche zones. These are typically narrow passes with snow-covered cliffs. Slow down your train and listen for rumbling sounds. If you hear them, stop immediately until the danger passes. Trying to speed through will often result in damage to your train.
- Navigating the Ice: Some sections of track will be covered in ice, making your train slide more. Reduce your speed in these areas to maintain control and avoid derailing.
- Side Paths and Treasures: Keep an eye out for small branching paths. Many of these lead to treasure chests containing valuable rupees or occasional Force Gems. It's worth exploring these if you're looking to upgrade your train or purchase new items.
- Snow Sanctuary Approach: As you near the Sanctuary, the tracks will become more winding. You'll eventually arrive at a station just outside the Snow Sanctuary itself. Park your train and disembark.
Inside the Snow Sanctuary
The Snow Sanctuary is a peaceful, albeit chilly, haven. Your objective here is to speak with the resident Lokomo to receive the next Spirit Flute song.
- Meeting the Lokomo: Head directly into the main building of the Sanctuary. You'll find the Lokomo, Gongoron, waiting for you. Engage him in conversation.
- Learning the Song: Gongoron will teach you the Song of Discovery. This is a crucial melody that will allow you to reveal hidden paths and secrets in the Snow Realm. Practice playing it on your Spirit Flute until you've mastered it.
- Exploring the Sanctuary: Before leaving, take a moment to explore the Sanctuary. There are often hidden rupees in pots or behind breakable ice blocks. You might also find a helpful villager or two with tips about the surrounding area.
Unlocking the Path to the Snow Temple
With the Song of Discovery in hand, you can now proceed towards the Snow Temple. This involves restoring a section of the Spirit Tracks.
- Return to Your Train: Head back to your train parked outside the Sanctuary.
- Locating the Broken Tracks: Consult your map. You'll notice a section of broken Spirit Tracks leading further into the Snow Realm, typically to the northeast of the Sanctuary. This is where you need to go.
- Using the Song of Discovery: Drive your train to the edge of the broken tracks. Stop your train and play the Song of Discovery on your Spirit Flute. A magical light will emanate from your flute, and the missing section of tracks will materialize before your eyes!
- Proceeding to the Snow Temple: Once the tracks are restored, you can now safely drive your train along them. Follow these newly formed tracks. You'll encounter more enemies and potentially some challenging ice patches. Stay alert and keep your Cannon ready.
- Snow Temple Station: The restored tracks will lead you directly to a station just outside the entrance to the Snow Temple. Park your train here.
