Phase 1: Standard Attacks
The Big Green Chuchu is your first boss. It primarily attacks by trying to jump on Link or by extending its body to cover a larger area. Its main weakness is its base.

Strategy
- Use the Gust Jar: When the Chuchu jumps or extends, it will briefly expose its base. Use the Gust Jar to suck on its base. This will stretch the Chuchu, making it taller and more vulnerable.
- Attack the Base: While the Chuchu is stretched, quickly switch to your sword and repeatedly slash its exposed base.
- Repeat: The Chuchu will eventually retract. Dodge its attacks and repeat the process until it is defeated.
Reward: Heart Container, Earth Element.
This boss serves as an excellent introduction to using your newly acquired item in combat. The key is timing your Gust Jar usage and then quickly switching to your sword for damage. Don't get greedy with your attacks; retreat and dodge after a few hits to avoid its counter-attacks. Its movements are predictable, making it a good fight to practice your combat rhythm and item switching.
While this encounter relies on the Gust Jar to destabilize the boss, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess later reimagined Chuchus as gelatinous enemies that can merge together.
