Your journey begins, as many do, in the comfort of your own bed. After a brief tutorial on basic movement and interaction, you'll be tasked with a crucial errand for Princess Zelda.

Step 1: Wake Up! Control Link and move him out of bed.
Step 2: Talk to Grandpa. Head downstairs and speak with your Grandpa, the Royal Blacksmith. He'll remind you of your important duty today: accompanying Princess Zelda to the Picori Festival.
Step 3: Collect Your Sword. Your Grandpa will present you with the Smith's Sword, a family heirloom. This is your first weapon and essential for the challenges ahead. Equip it immediately!
Step 4: Exit Link's House. Head out the front door to enter Hyrule Town.

Exploring Hyrule Town and Meeting Zelda

Hyrule Town is bustling with activity, preparing for the annual Picori Festival. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the layout, but don't get too sidetracked just yet.

Step 1: Navigate Hyrule Town. From Link's House, head south and then west. You'll see various shops and citizens. While you can interact with some, your primary goal is to reach Hyrule Castle.
Step 2: Locate Hyrule Castle. Continue west through the town square. The castle entrance is prominently displayed at the far west end of the town.
Step 3: Meet Princess Zelda. Upon entering the castle grounds, Zelda will greet you. She's excited about the festival and will lead you to the main event.
Step 4: The Picori Festival. Follow Zelda through the castle and into the festival grounds. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and the various mini-games. This segment is mostly narrative, but it sets the stage for the coming events.

The Sword-Fighting Tournament and Vaati's Arrival

The highlight of the Picori Festival is the sword-fighting tournament, where the winner gets to touch the legendary Picori Blade. However, this joyous occasion is abruptly interrupted.

Step 1: Witness the Tournament. Watch the cutscene unfold as the tournament progresses.
Step 2: Vaati's Interruption. A mysterious figure named Vaati will appear, crashing the festival and unleashing dark magic.
Step 3: The Picori Blade. Vaati's true intention is revealed: to break the seal on the chest containing the Picori Blade. He succeeds, turning Princess Zelda to stone in the process.
Step 4: The King's Plea. After Vaati's departure, the King of Hyrule will task you with a monumental quest: to find the Minish and ask for their help in restoring the Picori Blade and saving Zelda. He will give you the Broken Picori Blade.

Beginning Your Quest: The Minish Woods

With Zelda turned to stone and the Picori Blade shattered, your adventure truly begins. Your first destination is the Minish Woods, where the tiny Minish are said to reside.

Step 1: Exit Hyrule Castle. Head back through Hyrule Town. You'll notice a change in the atmosphere; the festival is over, and people are distressed.
Step 2: Head East to the Minish Woods. From Hyrule Town, proceed east. You'll pass Link's House again. Continue east, following the path that leads out of town.
Step 3: Enter the Minish Woods. The entrance to the Minish Woods is clearly marked. Prepare yourself, as this is where you'll encounter your first enemies and truly begin to utilize your Smith's Sword.
