Phase 1: Shell Attacks
Gleerok is a giant lava turtle. It will emerge from the lava and attack with fireballs and by slamming its head down. Its shell is initially invulnerable.
Strategy
- Dodge Fireballs: Stay on the platforms and dodge the fireballs Gleerok spits.
- Attack the Tail: When Gleerok slams its head, it will expose its tail on the opposite side of the arena. Quickly run to the tail and attack it with your sword.
- Expose Core: After enough hits to the tail, Gleerok's shell will break, revealing a blue core on its back.
Phase 2: Core Attacks
With its core exposed, Gleerok becomes more aggressive, spitting more fireballs and moving faster.
- Use Cane of Pacci: When Gleerok is on a platform, use the Cane of Pacci on the small holes on the platform to launch yourself into the air.
- Land on Core: Aim to land on Gleerok's exposed blue core.
- Attack Core: Once on its back, repeatedly slash the core with your sword.
- Repeat: Gleerok will eventually shake you off. Repeat the process until it is defeated.
Reward: Heart Container, Fire Element.
This battle requires precise timing with the Cane of Pacci. Make sure you're positioned correctly before using the Cane to ensure you land on the core. The fireballs can be relentless, so prioritize dodging and only attack the tail or core when it's safe. Managing your position on the platforms is also crucial to avoid falling into the lava. Don't rush, and wait for clear openings to inflict damage.
