Kinstone Fusion Completion
Kinstone Fusions are a core mechanic of The Minish Cap, unlocking new areas, items, and side quests. After defeating Vaati, many more Kinstone Fusions become available, often leading to the final Heart Pieces or other valuable rewards. Speak to every NPC you encounter, both in human and Minish form, and check for the Kinstone Fusion prompt. The game tracks your unique fusions in the Kinstone Bag menu, helping you identify how many remain. Aim for 100% completion!
Key Kinstone Fusion Rewards and Locations
- Tingle and his Brothers: Fusing Kinstones with Tingle, Ankle, Knuckle, and David Jr. (found in various locations like South Hyrule Field, Lon Lon Ranch, Lake Hylia, and Veil Falls) will cause beanstalks to sprout. These lead to Cloud Tops and other secret areas, often containing Rupees, Mysterious Shells, or even Heart Pieces.
- Mayor Hagen: Fuse with Mayor Hagen in his house in Hyrule Town. This will reveal a secret passage on the second floor of his house, leading to a Heart Piece.
- The Postman: Fuse with the Postman (he walks around Hyrule Town). This will cause a chest to appear in his house, containing a Heart Piece.
- Gorman: Fuse with Gorman, who lives in the house south of Hyrule Town, near the entrance to the Western Wood. This will open a secret passage in his house leading to a Heart Piece.
- The Hermit in Lake Hylia: Fuse with the hermit in the cave on the eastern side of Lake Hylia. This will remove a rock blocking a cave on the western shore, which contains a Heart Piece.
- The Business Scrubs: Fusing with various Business Scrubs found in caves and hidden areas can open up new shops with rare items or reveal hidden items in the overworld.
- The Minish: Many Minish throughout Hyrule (Minish Woods, Hyrule Town, Mount Crenn, etc.) have Kinstone Fusion opportunities that can lead to significant rewards, including Rupees, Mysterious Shells, and even opening up new paths.
- The Wind Tribe: Fusing with members of the Wind Tribe on the Cloud Tops can open up new areas or reveal treasure chests.
- The Ghost in Royal Valley: Fuse with the ghost in the Royal Valley to open a grave, revealing a cave with a Bottle.
- The Carpenter in Hyrule Town: Fuse with the carpenter to make a chest appear in the construction site, containing Rupees.
A good strategy for Kinstone completion is to systematically revisit every area and interact with every NPC. Pay attention to the Kinstone Bag in your inventory; it will show you how many unique fusions you've completed, helping you track your progress. Some fusions are only available after certain story events or after obtaining specific items.
Figurine Collection
The Figurine Collection at Carlov's Shop in Hyrule Town is a fun, albeit challenging, post-game endeavor. There are 130 figurines to collect, each depicting a character, enemy, or item from the game. To obtain them, you'll need to spend Mysterious Shells at Carlov's "Gashapon" machine. This is a test of both your shell-farming prowess and your patience!
Tips for Completing the Figurine Collection
- Collecting Mysterious Shells: These are dropped by enemies, found in chests, and hidden in various locations throughout Hyrule.
- Efficient Farming Spots: The Wind Ruins and Castor Wilds are excellent places to farm enemies for their drops. Enemies like Moblins and Octoroks often drop shells.
- Digging and Gust Jar: Use your Mole Mitts to dig up soft spots and the Gust Jar to clear leaves; these often reveal hidden shells.
- Kinstone Fusions: Many Kinstone Fusions will reward you with a large quantity of Mysterious Shells.
- Unlocking Figurines: Not all figurines are available from the start. Many are unlocked by:
- Progressing the Story: As you meet new characters and defeat new enemies, their figurines become available.
- Completing Kinstone Fusions: This is crucial! Many Kinstone Fusions specifically unlock new figurines at Carlov's shop. complete as many fusions as possible before focusing solely on shells.
- Defeating Bosses: Boss figurines are typically unlocked after you defeat them.
- The Gashapon Machine: The machine is random, so be prepared to spend a lot of shells and potentially get duplicates. Don't get discouraged! Keep trying, and eventually, you'll get them all. There's no trick to the randomness; it's simply a matter of persistence.
Completing the entire Figurine Collection will earn you a special reward from Carlov himself: a valuable Heart Piece, and a profound sense of accomplishment!
Bottle Collection
There are four empty bottles to find in The Minish Cap, invaluable for carrying potions, fairies, or other helpful liquids. If you haven't found them all, here's where to look:
- Bottle 1 (Mama's Shop): Purchase it from Mama's shop in Hyrule Town for 100 Rupees. This is usually one of the first bottles players acquire.
- Bottle 2 (Stockwell's House): After shrinking down using the Minish portal in Hyrule Town (near the fountain), enter Stockwell's house (the one with the cat). Speak to the Minish inside, and they will give you a bottle.
- Bottle 3 (Lake Hylia Fisherman): After completing the Temple of Droplets, talk to the man fishing on the small island in Lake Hylia. If you've spoken to him before and he mentioned his fishing lure, he will now give you a bottle as a thank you.
- Bottle 4 (Royal Valley Ghost): Fuse Kinstones with the ghost in the Royal Valley. This will open a grave, revealing a cave with a bottle inside. This is often the last bottle players find.
Hidden Rupees and Upgrades
Even after the main quest, there are still plenty of Rupees to find and potential upgrades to maximize your inventory and abilities. Use your fully upgraded tools to explore every nook and cranny:
- Bombable Walls: Revisit all dungeons and overworld areas. Many seemingly solid walls can be destroyed with Bombs, revealing hidden caves with chests full of Rupees, Mysterious Shells, Kinstone pieces, or even Heart Pieces. Look for discolored or cracked sections of walls.
- Diggable Spots: Equip your Mole Mitts and dig up every soft spot you encounter. These often contain Rupees, Mysterious Shells, or Kinstone pieces. Some areas, like the Wind Ruins, have numerous diggable spots.
- Gust Jar Secrets: Use the Gust Jar to clear away leaves, dust, and other debris. This can reveal hidden paths, Minish holes, or items. Pay special attention to areas with dense foliage or dusty floors.
- Rupee Farming: If you're short on Rupees for Carlov's figurines or other purchases, the Wind Ruins and Castor Wilds are excellent places to farm enemies for their drops. The Darknuts in Dark Hyrule Castle also drop significant amounts of Rupees.
- Bomb Bag Upgrades: There are two Bomb Bag upgrades available. One is purchased from the shop in Hyrule Town after a certain point in the game, and the other is found in a chest after a Kinstone Fusion with a specific NPC (often a Business Scrub).
- Quiver Upgrades: Similar to Bomb Bags, there are two Quiver upgrades. One is purchased from the shop in Hyrule Town, and the other is found after a Kinstone Fusion.
- Wallet Upgrades: You can upgrade your wallet capacity twice. The first upgrade is often a reward for a Kinstone Fusion, and the second is usually found in a chest in a late-game area or dungeon.
- Secret Caves and Grottoes: Many areas of Hyrule contain hidden caves or grottoes accessible only with specific items (e.g., Flippers, Roc's Cape, Cane of Pacci). These often contain large chests with significant Rupee rewards.
By diligently pursuing these post-game activities, you'll truly master The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap and uncover every secret Hyrule has to offer!
