Boss: Argorok
The final boss of the City in the Sky, Argorok, is a formidable dragon that requires mastery of the Double Clawshot to defeat. This battle takes place across two distinct phases, each demanding precise movement and timing.
Phase 1: The Dragon's Armor
Argorok begins the fight armored, making direct attacks ineffective. Your primary goal here is to remove its protective plates.
- Initial Positioning: As the battle starts, Argorok will fly around the central platform. Equip your Double Clawshots immediately.
- Clawshot to the Pillars: Look for the floating pillars surrounding the arena. Use your Clawshot to grapple onto one of them.
- Ascend the Pillars: Once on a pillar, look for a higher grapple point on the same pillar or an adjacent one. Continue using your Clawshot to ascend as high as possible.
- Targeting Argorok's Tail: Argorok will eventually hover near the top of the arena. When it does, look for a large, glowing jewel on its tail. This is your target.
- Grapple and Attack: Use your Clawshot to grapple directly onto the jewel on Argorok's tail. Once latched on, Link will be pulled towards it. Immediately begin slashing with your Master Sword (or any sword you have equipped) to damage the jewel.
- Repeat: Argorok will shake you off after a few hits. Repeat the process of climbing the pillars and grappling onto its tail jewel until the armor plates around its body begin to fall off. You'll need to do this several times.
- Midna's Intervention: After enough damage, Midna will appear and offer a hint, indicating that the armor is weakening. Continue the strategy until all the armor is gone and Argorok is exposed.
Phase 2: Exposed Weakness
With its armor gone, Argorok becomes more aggressive but also vulnerable. This phase focuses on using the Peahats and your Clawshots to reach its weak point.
- Peahat Appearance: Several large, flying Peahats will now appear around the arena. These are crucial for your strategy.
- Clawshot to a Peahat: Use your Clawshot to grapple onto one of the Peahats. They will carry you around the arena.
- Midna's Assistance: While you are hanging from a Peahat, Argorok will breathe fire. Midna will create a glowing portal on Argorok's back.
- Chain Clawshots: As the Peahat carries you, aim your Clawshot at the portal Midna created on Argorok's back. Grapple onto it.
- Swing and Attack: Once latched onto Argorok's back, Link will swing underneath the dragon. As you swing, Argorok's head will lower, revealing a glowing jewel on its head. This is its main weak point.
- Target the Head Jewel: While swinging, quickly aim your Clawshot at the glowing jewel on Argorok's head and grapple onto it.
- Final Assault: Once latched onto its head, rapidly slash with your Master Sword to inflict significant damage. Argorok will thrash and eventually shake you off.
- Repeat: Argorok will recover and fly around again. Repeat the process of grappling onto a Peahat, chaining to Midna's portal on its back, and then grappling to its head jewel for another round of attacks.
- Victory: After several successful attacks on its head jewel, Argorok will be defeated, and you will receive a Heart Container and the final Fused Shadow piece.
Tips for Success:
- Stay Mobile: Always be moving and looking for your next grapple point. Standing still for too long can leave you vulnerable to Argorok's fire attacks.
- Health Management: Keep an eye on your health. If you're low, consider using a Fairy in a bottle or a Red Potion.
- Patience: This fight requires precision. Don't rush your Clawshot aims, especially when chaining between the Peahat, Argorok's back, and its head.
- Sound Cues: Listen for the sound of Argorok's roar, which often precedes an attack or a change in its flight pattern.
