Heart Piece Locations (Detailed)

Collecting Heart Pieces is crucial for increasing Link's maximum health, making challenging encounters and boss battles significantly more manageable. Each four Heart Pieces you collect will form a complete Heart Container, adding one full heart to your life bar. This detailed guide will walk you through the precise steps to acquire every Heart Piece scattered across Hyrule.

Faron Woods

  • Heart Piece 1: Faron Woods (North)

Upon entering Faron Woods from Ordon Village, proceed north until you reach the area with the large, hollow log. Look for a small, elevated ledge to the east of this log. Use your Gale Boomerang to target the Heart Piece, which is floating just out of reach. Aim carefully to pull it towards you.

  • Heart Piece 2: Faron Woods (Sacred Grove Entrance)

After acquiring the Lantern, head towards the Sacred Grove entrance in Faron Woods. Just before the path that leads into the Sacred Grove, there's a dark cave on the right. Enter this cave and light the two torches inside with your Lantern. A chest containing a Heart Piece will appear.

Hyrule Field

  • Heart Piece 3: Hyrule Field (Faron Province)

In the southern section of Hyrule Field, near the entrance to Faron Woods, you'll notice a small, isolated rock formation with a chest on top. You'll need the Gale Boomerang to reach this. Target one of the nearby Bomb Flowers (if available, otherwise you'll need to find one and carry it) and then target the rock formation. The explosion will reveal a hidden cave entrance. Inside, you'll find a chest containing the Heart Piece.

  • Heart Piece 4: Hyrule Field (Lanayru Province - Bridge of Hylia)

After restoring light to the Lanayru Province, head to the Bridge of Hylia. Look for a series of platforms and ledges beneath the bridge. You'll need to use your Clawshot to grapple across these platforms. The Heart Piece is located on one of the lower, central platforms. Be careful not to fall into the water below.

Kakariko Village

  • Heart Piece 5: Kakariko Village (Graveyard)

Once you have the Iron Boots, head to the Kakariko Village graveyard at night. Look for a grave that is slightly discolored compared to the others. Equip your Iron Boots and push this grave to reveal a hidden passage. Follow the passage to find a chest containing a Heart Piece.

  • Heart Piece 6: Kakariko Village (Hot Spring)

After the Gorons have returned to Kakariko Village, speak to the Goron standing near the hot spring. He will challenge you to a sumo wrestling match. Defeat him to earn a Heart Piece. This may require a few attempts, so learn his patterns and counter accordingly.

Death Mountain

  • Heart Piece 7: Death Mountain (Trail)

While ascending Death Mountain, keep an eye out for a series of ledges that can only be reached by using the Gale Boomerang to clear away obstructing rocks or by using the Hero's Bow to shoot down enemies blocking your path. The Heart Piece is located on a high ledge overlooking the main path.

Lake Hylia

  • Heart Piece 8: Lake Hylia (Flight-by-Fowl)

After gaining access to Lake Hylia, locate the Flight-by-Fowl mini-game. Pay the fee and choose a Cucco. Aim for the small island with a chest on it, located to the southeast. Landing successfully on this island will allow you to open the chest and claim your Heart Piece.

  • Heart Piece 9: Lake Hylia (Zora's River Source)

Once you have the Zora Armor and Iron Boots, dive to the bottom of Lake Hylia near the entrance to Zora's River. Look for a strong current that you can resist by equipping your Iron Boots. Follow this current into a hidden cave. The Heart Piece is in a chest at the end of this underwater passage.

Gerudo Desert

  • Heart Piece 10: Gerudo Desert (Cave of Ordeals Entrance)

Near the entrance to the Cave of Ordeals in Gerudo Desert, there's a section of quicksand. Look for a series of small, stable platforms. You'll need to use your Clawshot to grapple across these platforms to reach a secluded area with a chest containing the Heart Piece.

Snowpeak Ruins

  • Heart Piece 11: Snowpeak Ruins (Main Hall)

Inside Snowpeak Ruins, after obtaining the Ball and Chain, return to the main hall where Yeta and Yeto reside. Look for a large block of ice on the upper level that can be shattered with the Ball and Chain. Behind it, you'll find a chest with a Heart Piece.

Temple of Time

  • Heart Piece 12: Temple of Time (Past)

In the past version of the Temple of Time, after activating the Dominion Rod, use it to move the large statue in the main chamber. This will reveal a hidden passage leading to a chest containing a Heart Piece.

City in the Sky

  • Heart Piece 13: City in the Sky (Central Tower)

Within the City in the Sky, as you ascend the central tower, you'll encounter numerous fans. Look for a section where you can use your Double Clawshots to grapple onto a series of flying Peahats. Navigate across them to reach a high platform with a chest containing a Heart Piece.

Hidden Village

  • Heart Piece 14: Hidden Village (Target Practice)

After clearing out the enemies in the Hidden Village, speak to the Impaz. She will offer a target practice mini-game using your Hero's Bow. Successfully hit all targets within the time limit to earn a Heart Piece.

Fishing Pond

  • Heart Piece 15: Fishing Pond (Lure Fishing)

At the Fishing Pond in Hena's House, try your hand at lure fishing. Catch a Hylian Loach, which is a rare fish found in the deeper parts of the pond. Presenting this fish to Hena will reward you with a Heart Piece. Patience and the right lure are key!

Cave of Ordeals

  • Heart Piece 16: Cave of Ordeals (Floor 10)

Upon reaching Floor 10 of the Cave of Ordeals, you will find a chest containing a Heart Piece. This requires battling through several waves of enemies, so ensure you are well-equipped with potions and a strong sword.
