Hot Spring Water Delivery

The Gorons of Kakariko Village are known for their love of hot springs, and sometimes, a little help is needed to get that rejuvenating water where it needs to go. This guide details the two primary instances where you'll be delivering Hot Spring Water, each with its own unique challenges and rewards.

Delivering to the Goron at Hyrule Castle Town's East Gate

This delivery is crucial for progressing the Malo Mart questline and eventually gaining access to the Hyrule Castle Town Malo Mart branch. You'll need to have already contributed to the Malo Mart donation fund in Kakariko Village for this to become available.

Initiate the Quest: After making your initial donation to Malo Mart in Kakariko Village, speak to the Goron standing outside the Malo Mart building. He will ask you to help a young Goron in Hyrule Castle Town who is feeling unwell and needs Hot Spring Water.
Acquire the Hot Spring Water Barrel: The Goron outside Malo Mart in Kakariko Village will provide you with a large barrel of Hot Spring Water. This is a special quest item and cannot be stored in your bottles.
The Perilous Journey: Your goal is to transport this barrel to the Goron waiting just outside the East Gate of Hyrule Castle Town.
- Route: The most direct route is to head south from Kakariko Village, through Hyrule Field, and towards Hyrule Castle Town.
- Caution! The barrel is fragile. If you are hit by an enemy or fall from a significant height, you will drop the barrel, and the Hot Spring Water will spill. If this happens, you'll need to return to the Goron in Kakariko Village to get a new barrel.
- Enemies: Be mindful of enemies in Hyrule Field, particularly Bulblins and their archers. Use your Horse, Epona, to quickly navigate and avoid confrontations.
Deliver the Barrel: Once you reach the Goron at the East Gate of Hyrule Castle Town, simply approach him while carrying the barrel. Link will automatically throw the barrel at him, revitalizing the Goron.
Reward: Successfully delivering the Hot Spring Water will earn you a well-deserved Piece of Heart. This also progresses the Malo Mart quest, eventually leading to the opening of the Hyrule Castle Town Malo Mart.

Delivering to the Goron at Hyrule Castle Town's South Bridge

This delivery is essential for clearing the boulders blocking the path south of Hyrule Castle Town, leading to Lake Hylia. This event typically occurs after you've made significant progress in the game, specifically after the events at Goron Mines and the subsequent donation to Malo Mart.

Identify the Obstruction: You'll notice a large Goron struggling to move a massive boulder blocking the path south of Hyrule Castle Town. He will express his need for Hot Spring Water to regain his strength.
Purchase Hot Spring Water: Head into Hyrule Castle Town. Inside the South Gate, you'll find a Goron selling Hot Spring Water for 20 Rupees per bottle. Purchase a bottle of this water.
The Delivery Method: This delivery is a bit more nuanced than the barrel delivery.
- Approach the Goron: With the Hot Spring Water in a bottle, approach the struggling Goron outside the South Gate.
- Speak to Him: Press the 'A' button to speak with him. He will reiterate his need for the water.
- The Key Action: This is where many players get stuck. Instead of simply using the bottle on the Goron, you need to Z-target him (or L-target on GameCube/Wii U) and then use the bottle mapped to your 'B' button. Link will then properly pour the Hot Spring Water into the Goron's mouth. If you simply use the bottle without targeting, Link will pour the water on the ground, wasting it.
Witness the Strength: Once he drinks the Hot Spring Water, the Goron will regain his strength and successfully smash through the boulders, clearing the path to Lake Hylia.
Reward: While there's no immediate item reward for this specific delivery, it is a mandatory step to access Lake Hylia and continue your adventure.
