Forest Temple
Monkey Cage Release Puzzle
This early dungeon introduces you to the concept of using your companions and items in tandem. The goal is to free the caged monkey, which will then assist you in reaching new areas.
- Location: Main chamber, after defeating the first few enemies.
- Required Item: Gale Boomerang (obtained within the Forest Temple).
- Strategy:
- Upon entering the main chamber, you'll spot a monkey trapped in a cage suspended high above.
- Look for a series of platforms and a large, unlit torch on the opposite side of the room from the monkey.
- Use your Gale Boomerang to target the unlit torch. Then, target one of the lit torches nearby to transfer the flame. This will ignite the unlit torch.
- Once the torch is lit, a mechanism will activate, lowering the monkey's cage.
- Approach the cage and interact with it to free the monkey. It will then lead you to the next area by swinging across a gap.
Bridge Reconstruction Puzzle
Later in the Forest Temple, you'll face a broken bridge, requiring clever use of your newly acquired item to proceed.
- Location: Large chasm room, accessible after freeing the second monkey.
- Required Item: Gale Boomerang.
- Strategy:
- Enter the room with the massive chasm and the broken bridge. You'll notice several platforms on either side and a series of rotating propeller-like objects.
- Equip your Gale Boomerang. Target the first propeller across the chasm.
- While the Boomerang is in flight, quickly target the second propeller, then the third, and so on, until you've targeted all the propellers in sequence across the chasm.
- The Boomerang will activate each propeller, causing sections of the bridge to extend and connect, forming a complete path.
- Cross the newly formed bridge to continue your journey.
Goron Mines
Magnet Glove Platform Puzzle
The Goron Mines introduce the unique mechanic of magnetic fields and the use of the Iron Boots. This puzzle requires precise timing and understanding of magnetism.
- Location: Chamber with moving magnetic platforms, after obtaining the Iron Boots.
- Required Item: Iron Boots (obtained within the Goron Mines).
- Strategy:
- You'll encounter large, metallic platforms that move along magnetic rails on the ceiling.
- Stand on one of these platforms. When it begins to move, you'll notice a strong magnetic field pulling you upwards.
- Equip your Iron Boots. This will anchor you to the platform, preventing you from being pulled off by the magnetic force.
- As the platform approaches a gap or a section where you need to switch to another platform, unequip the Iron Boots to be lifted by the magnetic field. This allows you to float across to the next platform or ledge.
- Re-equip the Iron Boots once you're on the new platform or solid ground to avoid being pulled into hazards or falling.
- Repeat this process of equipping and unequipping the Iron Boots to navigate through the magnetic platform sections.
Statue Head Rotation Puzzle
This puzzle involves manipulating large Goron statues to open a path forward, often requiring the use of the Hero's Bow.
- Location: Central chamber with three large Goron statues.
- Required Item: Hero's Bow (obtained within the Goron Mines).
- Strategy:
- In the main chamber, you'll see three enormous Goron statues, each with a red crystal embedded in its chest.
- Equip the Hero's Bow.
- Shoot an arrow at the red crystal on the chest of each statue.
- Each time a crystal is hit, the statue will rotate. The goal is to align the statues so that their gaze (represented by the direction they are facing) opens a path or activates a mechanism.
- The correct sequence often involves shooting them in a specific order or rotating them until they all face a central point, or a specific wall, revealing a hidden passage or lowering a barrier. Pay attention to any visual cues or patterns on the floor or walls.
- Once all statues are correctly aligned, a door will open, or a bridge will extend, allowing you to proceed.
