Ganon's Castle

Welcome, hero, to the final gauntlet! Ganon's Castle is a formidable fortress, a twisted reflection of Hyrule Castle itself. Prepare for a challenging ascent through four distinct elemental towers before confronting Ganondorf himself. Ensure your inventory is stocked with Red Potions, Fairies (bottled), and your Magic Armor is ready for use if you need a temporary invincibility boost. The Master Sword and Hylian Shield are your primary tools, but don't forget the utility of your Bow with Light Arrows, Clawshot, and Spinner.

Castle Entrance and Central Chamber

  1. Upon entering, you'll find yourself in the grand entrance hall. Proceed straight through the large double doors.
  2. You'll arrive in the Central Chamber, a circular room with four distinct doors, each leading to an elemental tower. Midna will explain the need to clear each tower to open the path to Ganondorf.
  3. The doors correspond to the following elements (clockwise from the entrance):
    • Forest Temple Door: Green, leads to the Forest Tower.
    • Goron Mines Door: Red, leads to the Fire Tower.
    • Lakebed Temple Door: Blue, leads to the Water Tower.
    • Snowpeak Ruins Door: White/Grey, leads to the Ice Tower.
  4. You can tackle these towers in any order, but for simplicity, we'll proceed clockwise.

Forest Tower (Green Door)

This tower is a test of your Gale Boomerang and platforming skills.

  1. Enter the green door. You'll be in a large room with a central platform and several Deku Babas. Clear them out.
  2. Look up to spot a large fan on the ceiling. Use your Gale Boomerang to activate it, creating an updraft.
  3. Jump into the updraft and use your Gale Boomerang again to target the spinning propellers on the walls, creating platforms.
  4. Work your way up, using the Gale Boomerang to activate fans and create new platforms. Be wary of Keese and Skulltulas that may ambush you.
  5. At the top, you'll encounter a Lizalfos. Defeat it to unlock the door.
  6. Proceed through the door to a small chamber. Defeat the Stalfos here.
  7. Look for a Torch that is unlit. Use a Lantern or Fire Arrows to light it. This will activate a mechanism, opening the path forward.
  8. Return to the Central Chamber. The green light above the Forest Tower door should now be lit.

Fire Tower (Red Door)

The Fire Tower challenges your Iron Boots and Hero's Bow.

  1. Enter the red door. You'll be in a lava-filled chamber. Equip your Iron Boots to walk on the magnetic strips on the ceiling.
  2. Navigate across the ceiling, avoiding the falling Fire Keese.
  3. Drop down onto a platform with a Dodongo. Defeat it by hitting its tail with your sword or by using a Bomb when its mouth is open.
  4. Look for a switch on the wall that is covered by a grate. Use your Hero's Bow to shoot an arrow through the grate, hitting the switch. This will activate a moving platform.
  5. Ride the moving platform across the lava.
  6. In the next area, you'll face several Fire Slugs. Defeat them and look for another magnetic strip leading upwards.
  7. Use your Iron Boots to walk up the magnetic wall.
  8. At the top, you'll find a series of platforms and more Dodongos. Carefully defeat them.
  9. Locate a large, unlit Torch. Light it with your Lantern or Fire Arrows. This will open the path.
  10. Return to the Central Chamber. The red light above the Fire Tower door should now be lit.

Water Tower (Blue Door)

This tower tests your Zora Armor and Clawshot.

  1. Enter the blue door. You'll be in a flooded chamber. Equip your Zora Armor and Iron Boots to sink to the bottom.
  2. At the bottom, defeat the Darknuts. Their heavy armor requires you to break it with repeated attacks before you can damage them.
  3. Locate a series of underwater switches. Use your Clawshot to pull them. This will drain some of the water.
  4. Ascend to the newly accessible platforms. You'll encounter Freezards. Defeat them with your Ball and Chain or by reflecting their ice breath back at them.
  5. Look for Clawshot targets on the ceiling. Use your Clawshot to grapple across the gaps.
  6. You'll reach a room with a large water wheel. Use your Clawshot to grapple onto the spokes of the wheel and ride it to the top.
  7. At the top, you'll face a Darknut and several Water Slugs. Clear the area.
  8. Find the unlit Torch and light it. This will open the path.
  9. Return to the Central Chamber. The blue light above the Water Tower door should now be lit.

Ice Tower (White/Grey Door)

The Ice Tower requires your Ball and Chain and Spinner.

  1. Enter the white/grey door. You'll be in a slippery, ice-covered chamber. Be careful not to slide into the chasms.
  2. You'll immediately face several Chilfos. Use your Ball and Chain to shatter their ice shields and then attack them.
  3. Locate a series of Spinner tracks on the walls. Use your Spinner to ride along these tracks, avoiding the ice spikes.
  4. You'll reach a platform with a large block of ice. Use your Ball and Chain to break it, revealing a switch.
  5. Activate the switch, which will raise a platform.
  6. Continue using your Spinner to navigate the tracks, reaching higher levels.
  7. You'll encounter Freezards and Ice Keese. Prioritize defeating the Freezards to clear the path.
  8. At the highest point, you'll find a large, unlit Torch. Light it with your Lantern or Fire Arrows. This will open the path.
  9. Return to the Central Chamber. The white/grey light above the Ice Tower door should now be lit.

Path to Ganondorf

  1. Once all four elemental lights are lit in the Central Chamber, the large central gate will open, revealing a staircase.
  2. Ascend the staircase. You'll find yourself in a long corridor leading to the throne room.
  3. Be prepared for a series of challenging mini-boss encounters and environmental puzzles as you make your way through this final section of the castle.
  4. Stock up on Potions and Fairies before proceeding. This is the point of no return before the final confrontations.
