The final confrontation awaits within the corrupted halls of Hyrule Castle. This section will guide you through the castle's treacherous paths and prepare you for the ultimate battle against Ganondorf.

Navigating Hyrule Castle

Upon entering Hyrule Castle, you'll find yourself in the Castle Town Central Square, now overrun with enemies. Your goal is to reach the main castle structure.

Initial Approach: From the Central Square, head north. You'll encounter numerous Bokoblins and Aeralfos. Utilize your Spin Attack and Hero's Bow to clear the path efficiently.
Castle Gates: The main gates are sealed. Look for a small archway to the west, leading to a side path.
West Courtyard: This area is heavily guarded. Defeat the Bulblins and Darknuts. Use the Gale Boomerang to disarm Darknuts and expose their weak points.
Entering the Castle: On the west side of the courtyard, you'll find a climbable wall. Use your Clawshot to ascend to an upper balcony, then enter through the window.
Main Hall: Inside, you'll be in the castle's main hall. Expect more Darknuts and other formidable foes. Progress through the hall, solving minor environmental puzzles involving switches and pressure plates.
Courtyard Puzzle: You'll eventually reach an outdoor courtyard with a large, central statue. This area requires you to activate several switches to open the path forward.
- Locate the first switch on the ground level, often hidden behind debris.
- Use the Double Clawshot to reach higher platforms and activate subsequent switches.
- One switch requires you to use the Ball and Chain to break a cracked block.
East Wing: After the courtyard, you'll enter the East Wing. This section often involves navigating narrow corridors and battling more advanced enemies like Lizalfos and Dynalfos. The Hawkeye can be useful for picking off archers from a distance.
Royal Chambers: Continue upwards, eventually reaching the Royal Chambers. Here, you'll find a series of interconnected rooms. Look for a hidden passage or a specific item (like a key or a pressure plate) to open the way to the top of the castle.

The Final Showdown: Ganondorf

The battle against Ganondorf is a multi-stage epic. Be prepared for a long and challenging fight. Ensure your inventory is stocked with Red Potions, Fairies, and your best equipment (Master Sword, Hylian Shield, Magic Armor if you have it).

Phase 1: Ganondorf (Mounted Combat)

This phase takes place on horseback, with Ganondorf riding his own steed. Midna will assist you.

Strategy: Ride Epona and chase Ganondorf. Midna will occasionally create a portal for you to warp ahead. Your goal is to get close enough to Ganondorf to strike him with the Master Sword.
Attacking: When you're alongside him, target him with Z-targeting and unleash a flurry of sword slashes. He will often retaliate with dark energy blasts, so be ready to swerve Epona to dodge.
Midna's Aid: Pay attention to Midna's cues. She'll indicate when to use her power to stun Ganondorf, creating a larger opening for your attacks.

Phase 2: Ganondorf (Beast Ganon)

Ganondorf transforms into a monstrous beast. This phase requires precise timing and the use of Midna's powers.

Strategy: Beast Ganon will charge at you. When he does, Midna will offer to help. Transform into Wolf Link.
Wolf Link's Role: As Wolf Link, use Midna's energy attack (B button) to grab onto Beast Ganon's belly. You'll then be prompted to repeatedly press the attack button to deal damage.
Dodging: Beast Ganon has a powerful stomp attack and can swipe at you. Stay agile and use your dodge roll to avoid his attacks.
Repeat: This is a cyclical battle. Dodge, wait for Midna's cue, transform, attack, and repeat until Beast Ganon is defeated.

Phase 3: Ganondorf (Sword Combat)

Ganondorf returns to his human form, wielding a powerful sword. This is a classic sword fight, testing your combat skills.

Strategy: This phase is a direct duel. Ganondorf is fast and strong. Focus on parrying his attacks with your shield and looking for openings.
Hidden Skills: Utilize your Hidden Skills, especially the Mortal Draw and the Back Slice, for maximum damage. The Shield Attack can also stun him briefly.
Countering: After he performs a combo, there's often a brief window to counter-attack. Be patient and don't get greedy with your hits.
Midna's Intervention: Midna will occasionally assist by distracting Ganondorf, giving you a clear shot. Take advantage of these moments.

Phase 4: Ganondorf (Possessed Zelda)

Ganondorf possesses Princess Zelda, forcing you to fight her. This phase is unique and requires a different approach.

Strategy: You cannot directly attack Zelda. Instead, you need to reflect her energy attacks back at her.
Reflecting Attacks: When Zelda charges an energy ball, use your Master Sword to bat it back. Timing is crucial. If you hit it correctly, it will stun her.
Midna's Role: While Zelda is stunned, Midna will appear and offer to help. Use the Clawshot to grapple onto Midna, and she will then launch you towards Zelda.
Finishing Blow: Once launched, you'll have an opportunity to strike Zelda with the Master Sword, breaking Ganondorf's control. Repeat this process until Zelda is freed.
