Hidden Grottos & Caves
Beyond the main dungeons and sprawling overworld, Hyrule is riddled with secret grottos and hidden caves, offering valuable rupees, heart pieces, and sometimes even unique items. Many of these require specific items or Link's Wolf form to access. This section details their locations and the treasures within.
Faron Woods
- Faron Woods Grotto (North)
- Location: From the Faron Woods entrance (near Ordon Village), head north towards the Twilight-covered area. Look for a large, hollow log on the west side of the path.
- Access: As Wolf Link, dig at the glowing spot inside the hollow log.
- Contents: This grotto contains several Keese and a chest with a
Purple Rupee (50 Rupees).
- Faron Woods Grotto (South)
- Location: Near the Forest Temple entrance, look for a small ledge to the east.
- Access: As Wolf Link, dig at the glowing spot on the ledge.
- Contents: You'll find a few Deku Babas and a chest containing a
Red Rupee (20 Rupees).
Hyrule Field (Faron Province)
- Bridge of Hylia Grotto
- Location: On the east side of the Bridge of Hylia, before crossing into Lanayru Province. Look for a small patch of grass near the cliff edge.
- Access: As Wolf Link, dig at the glowing spot.
- Contents: This grotto is home to a few ChuChus. Defeat them to claim a chest with a
Red Rupee (20 Rupees).
- Kakariko Gorge Grotto
- Location: In the Kakariko Gorge area, near the southern exit towards Faron Woods. Look for a large rock formation.
- Access: Use a
Bomb to destroy the cracked rock blocking the entrance. - Contents: Inside, you'll face several Bokoblins. Defeat them to open a chest containing a
Piece of Heart .
Kakariko Village
- Graveyard Grotto
- Location: In the Kakariko Village Graveyard, near the back wall. Look for a suspicious patch of dirt.
- Access: As Wolf Link, dig at the glowing spot.
- Contents: This grotto houses several Poes (after you've obtained the
Lantern ). Defeat them forPoe Souls and a chest with aPurple Rupee (50 Rupees).
Death Mountain
- Death Mountain Trail Grotto
- Location: While ascending Death Mountain, after the first Goron rolling section, look for a small alcove on the left.
- Access: Use a
Bomb to clear the rock obstruction. - Contents: This grotto contains a few Fire Keese and a chest with a
Red Rupee (20 Rupees).
Lake Hylia
- Lake Hylia Cavern
- Location: On the eastern bank of Lake Hylia, near the entrance to the Zora's River. Look for a large, dark opening in the cliff face.
- Access: This cave is accessible without special items, but it's often overlooked.
- Contents: Navigate through the dark passages (a
Lantern is highly recommended). You'll encounter various enemies like ChuChus and Keese. At the end, you'll find a chest with aGiant Rupee (200 Rupees).
- Lake Hylia Underwater Grotto
- Location: In the deepest part of Lake Hylia, near the Fyer's Cannon.
- Access: As Zora Link (with the
Zora Armor ), dive to the bottom and look for a small, dark opening. - Contents: This grotto is filled with Water Keese. Defeat them to reveal a chest containing a
Piece of Heart .
Gerudo Desert
- Gerudo Desert Grotto (North)
- Location: In the northern part of the Gerudo Desert, near the entrance to the Arbiter's Grounds. Look for a cluster of rocks.
- Access: Use a
Bomb to destroy the cracked rock. - Contents: Inside, you'll find several Leevers and a chest with a
Purple Rupee (50 Rupees).
- Gerudo Desert Grotto (South)
- Location: In the southern part of the Gerudo Desert, near the bridge leading to the Bulblin Camp. Look for a lone rock.
- Access: As Wolf Link, dig at the glowing spot next to the rock.
- Contents: This grotto contains a few Torch Slugs and a chest with a
Red Rupee (20 Rupees).
Snowpeak
- Snowpeak Cave
- Location: On the path leading up to Snowpeak Ruins, after the first ice-sliding section. Look for a small opening in the cliff face.
- Access: Use a
Bomb to break the ice blocking the entrance. - Contents: This icy cave is home to Freezards and Ice Keese. Navigate carefully to find a chest containing a
Piece of Heart .
