The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy

Installation & Setup

Install The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy by following our setup guide. Ensure your game launcher correctly recognizes the Dynasty expansion for seamless gameplay.

Installation & Setup

To begin your journey with The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy, ensure that you have the base game of The Sims 4 installed on your platform. The Royalty & Legacy expansion is an add-on and requires the base game to function. The installation process will vary slightly depending on your platform. For PC and macOS users, if you purchased the game digitally through platforms like Origin or Steam, the expansion pack will typically download and install automatically once purchased and linked to your account. If you have a physical copy or are installing from a disc, you may need to enter a product code during the installation process. For console players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the process is similar to other digital game installations. Navigate to your platform's respective store, search for The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy, and initiate the download and installation. Once the expansion is installed, it will be integrated directly into your existing Sims 4 game, adding new gameplay features, careers, and CAS (Create-A-Sim) items.

After the installation is complete, it's crucial to ensure that the expansion pack is correctly recognized by the game. In most cases, this happens automatically. However, if you encounter issues, especially on PC/macOS, you can verify the installation through your game launcher. For Origin/EA App, go to your game library, select The Sims 4, and look for an "Add-Ons" or "Manage Expansion Packs" section to confirm Royalty & Legacy is listed and enabled. On Steam, right-click The Sims 4 in your library, select "Properties," and then navigate to the "DLC" tab to check for the expansion. Console users can usually confirm by checking the game's "Add-Ons" section within the console's game management menu. If the expansion is not appearing, restarting your game launcher or console, and then launching The Sims 4 again, often resolves the issue. Ensure your game is updated to the latest patch, as this is often a prerequisite for new expansion packs to function correctly.

The Dynasty system itself is accessed through the game's main menu or within a Sim's lifespan. Upon starting a new game or loading an existing save file after installing Royalty & Legacy, you will notice new options related to Dynasty creation. The game will prompt you to either start a new Dynasty or manage an existing one. When creating a new Dynasty, you'll be guided through setting up your family's initial goals and lineage. This involves selecting a starting Sim and potentially inviting other Sims from the world or your existing households to join your Dynasty. The system is designed to be intuitive, but understanding the nuances of Prestige, heir selection, and the various challenges that can arise is key to long-term success. Familiarize yourself with the Dynasty panel, which provides an overview of your family's current status, achievements, and upcoming objectives. This panel will become your central hub for managing your legacy.
