10.13. Cheats & Console Commands
The Sims 4 offers a robust system of cheats and console commands that can unlock a world of possibilities, from instantly acquiring wealth to manipulating Sim behavior and even fixing glitches. Mastering these commands can significantly enhance your gameplay experience, allowing for more creative freedom and control. This section provides a comprehensive overview of the most useful cheats and how to implement them.
To access the cheat console, press Ctrl + Shift + C on your PC (or all four shoulder buttons on consoles). A white bar will appear at the top of the screen. You'll need to enable the primary cheat console by typing testingcheats true and pressing Enter. This command is essential for activating many other cheats.
Essential Cheats:
- testingcheats true/false: Toggles the ability to use most cheats.
- kaching or rosebud: Adds 1,000 Simoleons to your household funds.
- motherlode: Adds 50,000 Simoleons to your household funds.
- money [amount]: Sets your household funds to a specific amount. Example:
money 100000. - fullscreen: Toggles fullscreen mode.
- headlineeffects off/on: Hides or shows the plumbob and thought bubbles above Sims' heads.
- hovereffects off/on: Hides or shows the outline that appears when hovering over Sims.
Sim Manipulation Cheats (with testingcheats true):

- Make Happy: Sets all needs to full and gives the Sim a happy moodlet.
- Add to Household: Adds the selected Sim to your current household.
- Shift-click on Object:
- Reset Object: Fixes malfunctioning objects.
- Make Dirty/Clean: Changes the cleanliness state of an object.
Building Cheats:
- bb.moveobjects on/off: Allows you to place objects anywhere, oring grid restrictions and allowing overlap. Essential for detailed decorating.
- bb.showhiddenobjects: Unlocks debug items and hidden objects in Buy Mode, offering a vast array of decorative and functional items not normally available.
- bb.oregameplayunlocksentitlement: Unlocks all career reward objects in Buy Mode.
- bb.enablefreebuild: Allows you to build on any lot, even those that are normally restricted (like community lots where building is not permitted).
