Holidays & Traditions (Seasons GP)
The Seasons Expansion Pack introduces a dynamic calendar system that brings holidays and traditions to your Sims' lives, adding depth and new gameplay opportunities. These events are not just aesthetic; they offer unique interactions, moodlets, and rewards, making each in-game year feel distinct.
Understanding the Calendar
Your in-game calendar, accessible via the calendar icon in the bottom right corner of the UI, is your central hub for all things seasonal and holiday-related. Here, you can view upcoming holidays, add custom holidays, and track your Sims' schedules.
- Pre-Set Holidays: The game comes with several pre-defined holidays, such as Love Day, Harvestfest, Winterfest, and New Year's Eve. These holidays have specific traditions associated with them.
- Custom Holidays: You are not limited to the pre-set holidays! You can create your own holidays, assign traditions, and even choose which day of the season they fall on. This allows for endless customization to fit your Sims' unique stories.
- Traditions: Each holiday is defined by its traditions. These are specific activities Sims are encouraged to perform on that day. Completing traditions successfully contributes to a positive holiday experience and often rewards your Sims with happy moodlets and sometimes even holiday-specific gifts.
Creating and Customizing Holidays
To truly personalize your Sims' world, mastering custom holidays is key. Follow these steps to craft the perfect celebration:

- Select a Day: Choose any empty day on the calendar or an existing holiday you wish to modify.
- Add/Edit Holiday: Click the "Add Holiday" button or select an existing holiday and choose "Edit Holiday."

Maximizing Holiday Success
To ensure your Sims have the best possible holiday experience and reap the rewards, consider these strategies:
- Preparation is Key: Before a holiday begins, make sure your Sims have the necessary items. For example, if "Feast" is a tradition, have ingredients ready or prepare a large meal in advance. For "Give Gifts," purchase gifts from the computer or by clicking on a Sim.
- Decorate Early: If "Decorate" is a tradition, place decorations like the "Holiday Cracker Garland," "Festive String Lights," or the "Winterfest Tree" (for Winterfest) around your home. Sims will automatically gain progress towards this tradition by being near decorations.
- Engage Actively: Simply having traditions set isn't enough; your Sims need to actively participate. Encourage them to perform the associated actions. For instance, for "Give Gifts," click on a Sim and select "Give Gift."
- Group Activities: Many traditions are easier to complete with multiple Sims participating. Encourage family members to cook together, tell stories, or play games.
- Monitor Tradition Progress: During a holiday, a small pop-up will appear in the top left corner of your screen, showing the holiday's traditions and your Sims' progress. Aim to complete as many as possible for a gold-level holiday.
- Holiday Gnomes (Harvestfest): On Harvestfest, mysterious gnomes will appear around your lot. Interacting with them correctly (offering specific gifts like pie, coffee, or fruitcake) will earn your Sims seed packets and other rewards. Incorrect offerings might lead to the gnomes zapping your Sims!
- Father Winter (Winterfest): During Winterfest, Father Winter may visit your home. Have your Sims interact with him, ask for gifts, and be merry! He'll often leave presents under your Winterfest Tree.
By actively managing your calendar and engaging with the traditions, your Sims will enjoy a rich and fulfilling seasonal experience, complete with festive moodlets and valuable rewards.
