Endings & Post-Game Content
Congratulations, Tourist! You've navigated the treacherous streets of New Orleans, faced down countless walkers, and made some impossible choices. But the journey isn't over yet. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners offers multiple endings and a robust post-game experience to keep you scavenging and surviving.
Understanding the Endings
Your final decisions in the main story will determine which ending you receive. There are two primary endings, each with significant consequences for the fate of the Reserve and the people of New Orleans.
Ending 1: The Bell's Destruction (The "Good" Ending)
This ending is achieved by choosing to destroy the Reserve's Bell. It represents a commitment to preventing the weapon from falling into the wrong hands and potentially escalating the conflict between the Reclaimed and the Tower.
- Key Decision Point: During the final mission, "The Reserve," after retrieving the Reserve Key from May, you will confront Casey inside the Reserve.
- Action: When prompted, choose the option to "Destroy the Bell."
- Walkthrough:
- After making your choice, proceed to the central chamber where the Bell is located.
- You will need to activate the self-destruct sequence. This involves interacting with a console near the Bell.
- Prepare for a significant walker onslaught as the destruction sequence initiates. Utilize the environment and any remaining explosives (e.g., Pipe Bombs, Grenades) to manage the hordes.
- Once the sequence is complete, escape the Reserve through the designated exit point before the explosion.
- Outcome: The Bell is destroyed, preventing its use as a weapon. This ending generally leads to a more hopeful, albeit still challenging, future for the survivors. You will receive a unique post-credits scene reflecting this choice.
Ending 2: The Bell's Preservation (The "Bad" Ending)
This ending occurs if you choose to preserve the Reserve's Bell, either by leaving it intact or by giving it to a specific faction. This often leads to a more chaotic and dangerous future for New Orleans.
- Key Decision Point: During the final mission, "The Reserve," after retrieving the Reserve Key from May, you will confront Casey inside the Reserve.
- Action: When prompted, choose the option to "Keep the Bell" or remain silent, effectively choosing not to destroy it.
- Walkthrough:
- After making your choice, you will need to escape the Reserve. The path will be similar to the destruction ending, but without the self-destruct sequence.
- You will still face substantial walker resistance as you make your way out.
- Depending on your prior allegiances and choices, the Bell may fall into the hands of either the Reclaimed or the Tower, or remain dormant for a time.
- Outcome: The Bell remains a potential weapon, fueling the ongoing conflict. This ending typically results in a bleaker post-credits scene, highlighting the continued struggle and potential for further violence.
Post-Game Content: The Aftermath
Regardless of your chosen ending, the world of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners doesn't simply end. You'll return to your bus and can continue to explore, scavenge, and survive in the altered landscape of New Orleans.
Continued Exploration and Scavenging
All previously accessible zones remain open for exploration. You can revisit areas like the French Quarter, Via Corolla, Bywater, and Old Town to gather resources, complete any missed side quests, and uncover hidden secrets. Resources will continue to respawn, albeit at a slower rate in some areas, encouraging strategic scavenging runs.
The Trial (Survival Mode)
The most significant piece of post-game content is "The Trial," a dedicated survival mode that tests your combat and resource management skills. This mode is accessible from your bus after completing the main story.
- Accessing The Trial: Interact with the radio on your bus. A new option for "The Trial" will be available.
- Gameplay:
- You start with a basic loadout and must survive increasingly difficult waves of walkers and human enemies.
- Resources are scarce, and you'll need to scavenge quickly between waves to craft essential items like Bandages, Medicine, and Ammunition.
- New weapons and crafting recipes can be unlocked as you progress through waves.
- The goal is to survive as long as possible, earning high scores and bragging rights.
- Strategies for The Trial:
- Prioritize Headshots: Always aim for the head to conserve ammo and take down walkers efficiently.
- Melee is Key: Don't underestimate your melee weapons. A well-placed stab with a Shiv or Katana can save precious bullets.
- Environmental Awareness: Use choke points, climbable surfaces, and explosive barrels to your advantage.
- Resource Management: Only craft what you absolutely need. Save high-tier components for critical situations.
- Weapon Variety: Carry a diverse loadout – a reliable firearm, a powerful melee weapon, and a silent option like a Bow or Throwing Knife.
Unfinished Business
If you left any side quests or collectibles untouched during your main playthrough, the post-game is the perfect time to tie up those loose ends. Look for:
- Tourist Caches: Hidden stashes of valuable resources and crafting materials.
- Recipe Blueprints: Essential for unlocking advanced crafting options at your workbench.
- Journal Entries: Provide additional lore and backstory to the world.
- Missed Conversations: Some NPCs might have new dialogue or side tasks if you didn't complete their storylines.
Remember, the world of Saints & Sinners is unforgiving, even after the main story concludes. Stay vigilant, manage your resources, and continue to hone your survival skills. Good luck, Tourist!
