Challenges & Achievements/Trophies
Welcome, fellow survivor! Beyond simply completing the main story of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, a host of challenges and achievements await those brave enough to push their limits. This section will guide you through some of the more elusive or demanding accomplishments, offering actionable steps and strategies to add those coveted trophies to your collection.
Combat Prowess
Mastering combat is key to survival, and these achievements reward those who truly excel in dispatching the undead and hostile survivors.
-
Headshot Hero: Achieve 100 headshots with firearms.
- Strategy: This will come naturally through gameplay, but to expedite it, focus on precision. Early game, the 9mm Pistol is your friend due to its readily available ammo. Aim for the brain stem – a direct hit will cause walkers to drop instantly. Consider using the Revolver for its higher stopping power on individual targets. Practice at the shooting range in the bus to refine your aim.
- Locations: Any area with a high concentration of walkers, such as the Shallows, Via Corolla, or the Ward, are ideal.
-
Melee Master: Eliminate 50 enemies with melee weapons.
- Strategy: Blunt weapons like the Bat or Mace are excellent for staggering and then finishing walkers with a head stab. Sharp weapons like the Katana or Chef's Knife are perfect for quick, silent kills. Remember to aim for the head or neck for instant kills.
- Items: Craft a durable Katana at your crafting bench as soon as possible. It's incredibly efficient for multiple walker encounters.
-
Stealth Assassin: Perform 25 stealth kills.
- Strategy: Stealth kills require you to approach an enemy from behind without being detected. Use the environment for cover and move slowly. Equip a sharp, one-handed weapon like the Shiv or Crafted Knife. Once behind a walker, grab its head with one hand and stab it with the other. This is particularly effective in areas with dense foliage or tight corridors.
- Locations: The Cemetery and the Shallows offer good opportunities for stealth kills due to their layout and cover.
Exploration & Collection
New Orleans holds many secrets. These achievements reward thorough exploration and resourcefulness.
-
Hoarder: Collect 500 pieces of junk.
- Strategy: This is a grind, but essential for crafting. Loot absolutely everything you see. Prioritize areas with residential buildings and abandoned stores. check drawers, cabinets, and under beds.
- Items: Keep an eye out for common junk items like Scrap Metal, Wood Scraps, Plastic, and Cloth. Even seemingly useless items contribute to the count.
- Tip: Always bring a backpack with plenty of empty slots. Consider upgrading your backpack capacity at the crafting bench early on.
-
Tourist: Visit every distinct location in New Orleans.
- Walkthrough: This requires you to travel to each named map area at least once. Simply stepping foot into the zone is enough. check your map regularly to see which areas you haven't explored.
- Locations: The main story will naturally take you to most locations, but revisit areas like the Bywater, Via Corolla, The Ward, Old Town, Rampart Street, The Shallows, and the Cemetery. Don't forget the hidden areas accessible through specific story missions or environmental puzzles.
-
Treasure Hunter: Find all hidden caches.
- Strategy: Each map area contains at least one hidden cache, often requiring a specific key or a bit of environmental puzzle-solving to access. These caches are usually locked safes or containers.
- Example: In the Shallows, there's a safe in the house near the main street. The code can often be found on a note nearby, or by solving a simple riddle based on numbers seen in the environment. Always check behind paintings, under loose floorboards, and in hidden compartments.
- Items: Keep an eye out for Cache Keys, which are often found on specific named enemies or in unique containers.
Story & Progression
These achievements are tied to your journey through the main narrative, but some might require specific choices or actions.
-
The Bell Tolls: Complete the main story campaign.
- Strategy: Follow the main quest markers. This achievement is unavoidable if you finish the game.
-
Moral Compass: Make a significant moral choice.
- Walkthrough: Throughout the game, you'll encounter situations where your decisions impact other characters or the world. One notable instance is during the mission involving May and the Tower. Your choice to side with the Tower, May, or neither will trigger this achievement. There are multiple opportunities for this, so don't fret if you miss one.
Miscellaneous Feats
These achievements cover a range of unique or challenging tasks that don't fit neatly into other categories.
-
Pacifist Run (Unofficial Challenge): Complete a full day without killing any walkers or humans.
- Strategy: While not an official achievement, this is a popular community challenge. It requires extreme stealth and resource management. Focus on scavenging quickly and avoiding all confrontations. Utilize throwable items like Bottles or Cans to distract walkers, and always have a fully charged flashlight to disorient them if necessary.
- Tip: Plan your route carefully and stick to the edges of maps to minimize encounters.
-
Resourceful Scavenger: Craft every unique item at least once.
- Strategy: This requires extensive scavenging and upgrading your crafting benches. collect all recipes you find, often located in safes or on specific enemy bodies. Prioritize upgrading your Crafting Bench, Survival Bench, and Gear Bench to unlock all available items.
- Items: This includes all weapons (melee and firearms), healing items, food, and backpack upgrades. Keep a checklist if you need to.
