Post-Warlords of New York Content
Congratulations, Agent! You've navigated the treacherous streets of New York City, neutralized Aaron Keener, and brought his rogue agents to justice. But the fight for D.C. and beyond is far from over. The Warlords of New York expansion opens up a wealth of new content, challenges, and opportunities to further refine your build and dominate the battlefield. This section will guide you through the essential activities and strategies for maximizing your post-Warlords experience.
The Global Event System
Global Events are limited-time, week-long modifiers that significantly change gameplay and offer unique rewards. These events rotate regularly and are crucial for acquiring specific currencies and exotic caches.
- Activation: Global Events are announced in-game and can be activated from the Seasons tab in your menu.
- Modifiers: Each event features a unique set of modifiers that affect enemy behavior and player abilities. For example, "Reanimated" grants enemies a second life, while "Guardians" links enemies, requiring strategic takedowns. Adapt your build and playstyle accordingly.
- Challenges: Complete specific challenges within the Global Event to earn Stars. These challenges often involve eliminating enemies in certain ways or completing activities under the event's influence.
- Rewards: Spend your earned Stars at the Global Event vendor in the Base of Operations or Haven. Rewards include:
- Exotic Caches: A guaranteed exotic item. This is a primary source for farming new exotics or components for optimization.
- Named Item Caches: Guaranteed named items, useful for build crafting.
- Optimization Materials: Crucial for perfecting your gear.
- Cosmetics: Unique apparel items tied to the event.
- Strategy: Focus on completing the daily and weekly challenges for maximum Star acquisition. Running activities like Control Points, Bounties, and Missions under the event's influence is the most efficient way to farm.
The Summit
The Summit is a replayable, skyscraper-based activity offering endless floors of escalating difficulty and targeted loot. It's an excellent resource for farming specific gear pieces and testing new builds.
- Access: The Summit can be accessed from the Mega Map in Washington D.C. or directly from the helicopter pilot in the Base of Operations.
- Floor Progression: Ascend 100 floors, with each 10th floor featuring a boss encounter. Difficulty scales with each floor, culminating in Legendary difficulty on the higher floors.
- Targeted Loot: Before entering, you can set a specific targeted loot category (e.g., Assault Rifles, Providence Defense, Skill Tier) for the entire Summit run. This makes it incredibly efficient for hunting down specific items.
- Directives: Activate up to five Directives for increased XP and targeted loot drop chances. Directives add challenging modifiers like "Pistolero" (pistol only primary weapon) or "Cool Skills" (skill cooldowns reset on kill).
- Challenges: Each floor has a small chance to present a challenge, such as "Eliminate all enemies with headshots" or "Complete the floor without taking armor damage." Completing these grants bonus XP and loot.
- Checkpoints: Every 10 floors acts as a checkpoint, allowing you to resume your ascent from that point if you leave or wipe.
- Strategy:
- Solo vs. Group: Summit is viable solo, but a coordinated group can push higher difficulties and clear floors faster.
- Build Diversity: Have multiple builds ready to adapt to different Directives and enemy types. A strong crowd control build is often invaluable.
- Targeted Farming: If you need a specific brand set piece or weapon, set the targeted loot accordingly and grind floors. Floors 91-100 on Heroic or Legendary are excellent for high-end drops.
- Optimization: Use Summit to farm optimization materials by deconstructing unwanted gear.
Seasons and Manhunts
Seasons are ongoing content cycles that introduce new Manhunts, Global Events, Leagues, and unique rewards. Each Season typically lasts for several months.
- Manhunts: The core of each Season, Manhunts involve tracking down and eliminating a series of rogue agents, culminating in a final target.
- Progression: Complete specific missions and Control Points to unlock and defeat the four lieutenants. Each lieutenant you eliminate provides a piece of intelligence for the final target.
- Rewards: Completing a Manhunt often rewards a new Skill Variant (e.g., Achilles Pulse, Shrapnel Trap) and a unique weapon or gear piece.
- Replayability: Once a Manhunt is completed, you can reset it and replay it on higher difficulties for additional rewards and XP.
- Leagues: Leagues are weekly challenges that test your efficiency in various activities (e.g., "Time Trials" for missions, "Headshot Kills" in specific zones).
- Tiers: Achieve different tiers within each League challenge to earn League Caches.
- Rewards: League Caches contain various loot, including Named Items, Exotic Components, and optimization materials.
- Strategy: Prioritize challenges that align with your current farming goals. For example, if you need gear from a specific mission, try to complete its League Time Trial simultaneously.
- Season Pass: A free and premium track offering a wide array of rewards, including apparel, weapon skins, materials, and caches, as you gain Season Levels.
Expertise and Optimization
Beyond simply acquiring gear, the post-Warlords endgame focuses heavily on perfecting your existing items through the Expertise and Optimization systems.
- Expertise System:
- Proficiency Ranks: Use a weapon, brand set, or skill enough, or donate unwanted gear, to increase its Proficiency Rank. Each rank grants a small, permanent damage or armor bonus to that item type.
- Expertise Levels: Once an item type reaches Proficiency Rank 10, you can increase its Expertise Level at the Recalibration Station. This provides a direct, incremental buff to its core stats (e.g., weapon damage, armor, skill efficiency).
- Materials: Increasing Expertise Levels requires a significant amount of various materials, including Exotic Components, SHD Calibration, and Field Recon Data.
- Strategy: Focus on increasing the Proficiency of items you frequently use or are part of your core builds. Donate unwanted gear to quickly gain Proficiency Ranks. Prioritize Expertise upgrades for your primary weapons and core armor pieces.
- Optimization:
- Recalibration Station: At the Recalibration Station, you can optimize individual attributes on your gear.
- Materials: Optimization requires a substantial amount of optimization materials, including SHD Calibration, Field Recon Data, and various crafting materials.
- Cost: The cost of optimization increases with each percentage point you improve an attribute.
- Strategy: Only optimize gear that is already near-perfect in its rolls. It's generally more efficient to farm for a better drop than to optimize a poorly rolled item from scratch. Save your optimization materials for your "God Roll" pieces.
By engaging with Global Events, conquering The Summit, participating in Seasons, and meticulously optimizing your gear, you'll be well-equipped to face any challenge The Division 2 throws your way. Good luck, Agent!
