The Summit

The Summit is a skyscraper ascent challenge, offering a unique blend of randomized encounters, targeted loot, and escalating difficulty. It's an excellent source for specific gear pieces, exotic components, and a great way to test your build's limits. Unlike traditional missions, The Summit features 100 floors, each with varying objectives and enemy factions. You can tackle it solo or with a squad of up to four agents.

Accessing The Summit

To begin your ascent, navigate to the Mega Map and select the "The Summit" icon, typically located in the top-right corner. You can then choose to start from Floor 1, or if you've previously cleared floors, you can resume from a checkpoint every 10 floors (e.g., Floor 11, Floor 21, etc.).

Targeted Loot in The Summit

One of The Summit's most compelling features is its targeted loot system. Before starting your run, you can set a specific gear type (e.g., "Assault Rifles," "Providence Defense," "Skill Tier") or even an exotic item you're hunting for. This significantly increases the drop chance of that item category from enemies and caches within The Summit. Remember to check and adjust your targeted loot regularly based on your current farming goals.

Floor Objectives and Modifiers

Each floor presents a primary objective that must be completed to progress. These can range from eliminating all hostiles to securing a control point or destroying enemy equipment. Additionally, every 10 floors, you'll encounter a "Director's Floor" with a unique, often more challenging, objective and a guaranteed cache. As you ascend, global modifiers are introduced, adding extra layers of difficulty or unique challenges to the combat encounters. These modifiers can include things like "Pistolero" (pistol damage increased, other weapon damage decreased) or "Fragile Armor" (armor breaks faster).

Strategies for Success

  • Build Diversity: While a strong DPS build is often effective, consider having a versatile team composition if playing with a squad. A dedicated tank (e.g., using a Foundry Bulwark set), a skill damage dealer (e.g., with a Hard Wired or Empress International set), and a healer/support can make higher floors much more manageable.
  • Cover is Key: The Summit's close-quarters combat often necessitates smart use of cover. Don't overextend, and always be aware of enemy flanking routes.
  • Environmental Hazards: Many floors feature environmental hazards like explosive barrels, gas canisters, or electrical panels. Use these to your advantage to deal damage or control enemy movement.
  • Exotic Caches: At the end of every 10 floors, you'll find an Exotic Cache. These are excellent opportunities to acquire high-end gear and exotic components.
  • Rogue Agents: Be prepared for unexpected encounters with Rogue Agents, especially on higher floors. These elite enemies are tough but drop valuable loot.
  • Hunter Encounters: On specific floors (typically Floor 100, but sometimes earlier on higher difficulties), you'll face Hunters. These are extremely dangerous enemies with unique abilities. Focus fire and coordinate with your team to take them down. A well-placed "Shock Trap" or "EMP Sticky Bomb" can be invaluable against them.

For specific gear sets, select the corresponding brand or gear set. Remember that higher difficulties (Heroic and Legendary) offer a significantly increased chance for high-end and exotic drops.
