Character Talents/Skills

Understanding and optimizing your character's talents and skills is paramount to success in Aida. Unlike traditional RPGs where characters have fixed skill trees, Tower of Fantasy ties most active abilities directly to your equipped weapons, known as Simulacra. However, there are still crucial passive talents and progression systems to master for maximum combat efficiency.

Simulacra Skills & Abilities

Each Simulacrum (character) you acquire comes with a unique weapon, and this weapon dictates your primary active skills. These skills are divided into several categories:

  • Normal Attacks: Basic attack sequences that can be chained together. Many have different effects when performed on the ground versus in the air.
  • Dodge Attacks: Special attacks performed immediately after a successful dodge. These often have unique properties like crowd control or increased damage.
  • Weapon Skills: A powerful active ability with a cooldown. These are often the core of a Simulacrum's combat identity. For example, Samir's Dual EM Stars feature the "Dual Whirlwind" skill, creating a damaging vortex.
  • Discharge Skills: Activated when switching to a fully charged weapon. These are ultimate-like abilities that can turn the tide of battle. Shiro's Chakram of the Seas, for instance, has the "Full Bloom" discharge, dealing massive area damage and shattering shields.
Upgrading Weapon Skills

To enhance the potency of your weapon skills, follow these steps:

  1. Weapon Leveling: Use Weapon Batteries (obtained from Joint Operations, Bounties, and World Bosses) to increase your weapon's level. Each level grants base stat increases.
  2. Weapon Ascension: By acquiring duplicate copies of a Simulacrum, you can ascend their weapon. Each ascension level (up to 6 stars) unlocks powerful passive bonuses or enhances existing skills. For example, a 1-star King's Scythe of the Crow gains increased damage after breaking a shield.
  3. Matrix Sets: Equipping a complete set of Matrices (chips) on your weapon can provide significant skill-related bonuses. Look for sets that complement your Simulacrum's playstyle. For instance, the Samir Matrix Set boosts damage dealt by normal attacks and dodge attacks.

Relic Abilities

Relics are separate utility items that provide active abilities independent of your equipped weapons. These range from movement tools like the Jetpack to powerful combat aids like the Spacetime Rift. You can equip two relics at a time.

  • Acquisition: Relics are primarily obtained through exploration (finding specific Supply Pods or completing World Boss challenges) and by progressing through the main story quests. The Jetpack is an early game acquisition, while more advanced relics like the Omnium Shield require more effort to unlock.
  • Upgrading Relics: Relics can be upgraded using Relic Shards, which are found in various activities, including Ruin dungeons and as rewards from certain events. Upgrading a relic reduces its cooldown and enhances its effects. For example, upgrading the Spacetime Rift increases its damage and duration.

Suppressor & Awakening

These systems provide passive character-wide buffs that are not tied to specific weapons or relics.

  • Suppressor: Your Suppressor is a core piece of equipment that grants significant stat bonuses (HP, Attack, Defense). It can be upgraded using Omnium Crystals and Data Packs, primarily acquired from completing Ruin dungeons and daily bounties. Higher Suppressor levels also unlock additional passive bonuses, such as increased elemental damage or reduced incoming damage. Prioritize upgrading your Suppressor as it offers foundational power.
  • Awakening: Each Simulacrum has an Awakening system. By giving a Simulacrum their favorite gifts (found in Supply Pods, purchased from the Commissary, or crafted), you increase their Awakening points. Reaching certain thresholds unlocks passive "Awakening Traits" that provide unique combat benefits. For example, Shiro's "Sharpness" trait increases damage dealt when enemies are at low health. Experiment with different Simulacra to find Awakening traits that synergize with your preferred combat style.

Strategic Talent Allocation

While there isn't a traditional "talent tree" in Tower of Fantasy, strategic choices in weapon ascension, Matrix selection, and Awakening are your primary methods of "talent allocation."

  • Synergy Focus: When building a team of three weapons, consider how their skills and passive bonuses interact. A common strategy is to have one weapon for "Shatter" (breaking enemy shields), one for "Charge" (building up weapon energy for Discharge skills), and one for pure DPS. For example, King (Shatter), Samir (DPS), and Nemesis (Charge/Support) form a potent combination.
  • Elemental Resonance: Equipping two weapons of the same element (e.g., two Flame weapons) activates an Elemental Resonance, granting significant buffs to that element's damage. This is a crucial "talent" choice that heavily influences your damage output.
  • Adapt to Content: Different content (e.g., Joint Operations, World Bosses, Bygone Phantasm) may require different "talent" setups. For a boss with high elemental resistance, you might swap out an elemental DPS for a physical one. For content requiring heavy shield breaking, prioritize high Shatter weapons.

By diligently upgrading your weapons, relics, and suppressor, and thoughtfully combining Simulacra with synergistic skills and Awakening traits, you'll unlock your character's full potential and conquer the challenges of Aida.
