Beginner Progression Path
Welcome, new Wanderer, to the vast and mysterious world of Aida! Tower of Fantasy can be overwhelming at first, but with this detailed progression path, you'll be navigating its challenges and maximizing your potential in no time. This guide focuses on efficient resource gathering, character development, and key activities to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey.
Initial Steps: Aesperia & Main Story Focus
Your first hours in Tower of Fantasy are crucial for unlocking core systems and gaining initial resources. Prioritize the following:
- Follow the Main Story Quests: The orange quest markers are your best friends. These quests introduce you to the world, its lore, and, most importantly, unlock essential features like mounts, additional weapon slots, and various game modes. Push through Chapter 1 and into Chapter 2 as quickly as possible.
- Explore Aesperia: While following the main story, keep an eye out for glowing objects and interactive elements.
- Supply Pods: These chests come in various rarities (Type I, Type II, Type III). Open every one you see for Dark Crystals, Gold, Weapon Batteries, and Matrix Data Packs. Use our interactive maps to pinpoint their locations.
- Omnium Towers: Activating these towers in each region reveals the map and unlocks fast travel points. Prioritize activating the Omnium Tower in Astra, then Banges, and so on.
- Scenic Points: Interact with these glowing cameras to earn Dark Crystals and unlock entries in your Chronicles.
- World Bosses (Early Game): While you won't be able to defeat them alone, interacting with World Bosses like Robarg or Apophis (even if you just observe) can sometimes yield small rewards or contribute to exploration. Save serious attempts for later when you have a stronger team.
- Understand Elemental Effects: As you encounter different enemies, pay attention to their elemental weaknesses. Our Elemental Effects guide provides a comprehensive breakdown. Initially, focus on having a diverse weapon set to break shields effectively.
Weapon & Simulacra Acquisition: Your First Pulls
Your early weapon and Simulacra choices will significantly impact your combat effectiveness.
- Novice Banner (Choice Weapon): This banner guarantees an SSR weapon within 30 pulls. Use your Gold Nuclei here. Aim for a weapon that complements your preferred playstyle or fills a crucial role (e.g., a strong DPS, a reliable shield breaker, or a healer). King, Samir, and Tsubasa are excellent early-game DPS options. Coco Reitter is a strong healer.
- Standard Banner (Black Nuclei): You'll accumulate Black Nuclei through exploration and daily activities. Use these on the Standard Banner. While it doesn't guarantee an SSR as quickly, every pull counts towards potential upgrades.
- Dark Crystals & Red Nuclei: Save your Dark Crystals for limited-time banners featuring new, powerful SSR Simulacra. Red Nuclei are exclusively for these limited banners. Resist the urge to spend Dark Crystals on the Standard Banner unless you have a very specific reason.
Early Gear & Advancement: Boosting Your Power
Beyond weapons, your gear and character progression systems are vital.
- Weapon Leveling: Use Weapon Batteries (obtained from Supply Pods, daily activities, and Joint Operations) to level up your primary weapons. Prioritize your main DPS weapon first.
- Matrix Leveling: Matrices provide significant stat boosts. Equip them to your weapons and level them up using Matrix Data Packs. Focus on matrices that enhance your weapon's primary stats (e.g., Attack, Crit).
- Equipment: You'll acquire equipment (Head, Torso, etc.) from various sources. Always equip the highest rarity and highest stat equipment you find. Don't worry too much about perfect substats early on; focus on increasing your overall Combat Score (CS).
- Relics: Relics are powerful tools that aid in combat and exploration.
- Jetpack: Essential for traversal. Upgrade it when possible.
- Omnium Handcannon: Creates pillars, useful for reaching high places or blocking enemies.
- Cybernetic Arm: Pulls you towards targets or pulls targets towards you. Great for mobility and grouping enemies.
Daily & Weekly Activities: Consistent Growth
Once you've progressed past the initial story, integrate these activities into your routine:
- Bounties: Complete your daily bounties (accessible from the Adventure menu) for Gold, Weapon Batteries, and Matrix Data Packs.
- Daily Supply: Claim your free daily supply from the shop for various resources.
- Joint Operations: These co-op dungeons are crucial for farming equipment, Matrix Data Packs, and Weapon Upgrade Modules. Start with the lowest difficulty you can comfortably clear and gradually increase as your CS rises.
- Dimensional Trials: Another source of weapon and matrix upgrade materials.
- Frontier Clash: A weekly challenge that rewards powerful gear. Participate even if you can't clear the highest difficulties.
- Bygone Phantasm: A solo challenge mode that tests your combat prowess and rewards Dark Crystals and other valuable resources. Push as high as you can each week.
Social & Crew Activities
- Join a Crew: Being part of a crew offers numerous benefits, including weekly rewards, access to the Crew Store, and opportunities for co-op activities. Look for an active crew that aligns with your playstyle.
- World Chat: Don't be afraid to ask questions in world chat! The community is generally helpful.
By following these steps, you'll establish a strong foundation in Tower of Fantasy, allowing you to tackle more challenging content and enjoy all that Aida has to offer. Remember to check our other guides and databases for more in-depth information on specific systems and items!
