Boss Strategies for Joint Operations
Joint Operations are a cornerstone of endgame progression in Tower of Fantasy, offering valuable gear and materials. Success hinges on understanding each boss's mechanics and coordinating with your team. This guide provides detailed strategies for common Joint Operation bosses, focusing on actionable steps, optimal loadouts, and key timings.
General Joint Operation Tips
- Elemental Resonance: Always aim for a team composition that benefits from Elemental Resonance. For example, a Frost team with two Frost weapons active gains a significant damage boost.
- Shatter & DPS: Ensure a balanced team with at least one strong shatter weapon (e.g., Huma's Molten Shield V2, Meryl's Rosy Edge) and ample DPS.
- Avoid Overlapping Roles: While flexibility is good, having too many healers or too few damage dealers can prolong fights and increase risk.
- Communication: Use in-game chat or voice comms to call out attacks, coordinate shatters, and manage aggro.
- Relics are Key: Don't forget your relics! Couant for damage, Spacetime Rift for crowd control, and Omnium Shield for defense are universally useful.
Robarg (Crown Mines Joint Operation)
Robarg, the Queen of the Bees, is often one of the first Joint Operation bosses players encounter. Her poison attacks and summoned minions are the primary threats.
- Recommended Elements: Fire, Volt. Robarg is weak to Fire and Volt damage.
- Phase 1: Standard Attacks
- Poison Sting: Robarg will lunge forward, dealing moderate damage and applying a poison debuff. Dodge sideways or use a shield.
- Poison Nova: She charges briefly then releases a large AoE poison field. This is heavily telegraphed; move out of the red circle immediately.
- Summon Bees: Robarg summons several small bees. These should be dealt with quickly as they can overwhelm the team with poison. AoE weapons like King's Scythe of the Crow or Samir's Dual EM Stars are excellent here.
- Phase 2: Enraged State (HP below 50%)
- Increased Attack Speed: Robarg's attacks become faster and more frequent.
- Poison Bloom: She will periodically summon large poison flowers that deal continuous damage in an area. Prioritize destroying these flowers as they appear, especially if they are near the main combat area.
- Shatter Priority: Focus on shattering her shield when it appears. A successful shatter will stun her, allowing for a burst damage window.
- Strategy:
- Maintain distance and dodge her lunges.
- Clear summoned bees as soon as they appear to prevent excessive poison buildup.
- When she casts Poison Nova, everyone must move out of the AoE.
- Utilize Spacetime Rift to group bees or keep Robarg in place for sustained damage.
- Save your strongest shatter abilities for her shield phase.
- Healers should be vigilant with cleansing poison debuffs using abilities like Coco Ritter's Absolute Zero discharge.
Apophis (Ruins A-03 Joint Operation)
Apophis, the colossal mechanical serpent, demands precise dodging and awareness of its electrical attacks.
- Recommended Elements: Ice, Volt. Apophis is particularly vulnerable to Ice and Volt.
- Phase 1: Ground Attacks
- Tail Swipe: Apophis will sweep its tail in a wide arc. This is a large AoE; dodge through it or jump over it.
- Electric Orb: It fires a slow-moving electric orb that tracks a player. This orb explodes on impact or after a short duration, dealing significant Volt damage. Focus fire on the orb to destroy it before it reaches its target.
- Body Slam: Apophis rears up and slams its body down, creating a shockwave. Jump to avoid the shockwave.
- Phase 2: Enraged State (HP below 50%)
- Electric Field: Apophis will periodically generate an electric field around itself, dealing continuous damage to anyone inside. Melee DPS should be cautious and time their attacks between pulses.
- Lightning Pillars: It summons multiple lightning pillars that strike the ground in sequence. Observe the ground indicators and move to safe zones.
- Shatter Priority: Apophis's shield is quite durable. Coordinate your team's shatter weapons to break it quickly.
- Strategy:
- Prioritize destroying the Electric Orbs. One player can be designated to focus on this.
- Stay mobile to avoid Tail Swipes and Body Slams.
- When the Electric Field is active, ranged DPS can continue attacking, while melee disengage briefly or use shields.
- Utilize Spacetime Rift to hold Apophis in place, especially during shatter phases.
- Consider bringing a weapon with a strong shield, like Huma's Molten Shield V2, to absorb some of the electrical damage.
- Healers should be prepared for burst damage from the Lightning Pillars if players are caught.
Frost Bot (Hyena's Carnival Joint Operation)
The Frost Bot is a formidable foe that utilizes freezing attacks and powerful area-of-effect abilities. Maintaining mobility is crucial.
- Recommended Elements: Fire, Volt. Frost Bot is weak to Fire and Volt.
- Phase 1: Ice Attacks
- Ice Shard Volley: Frost Bot fires multiple ice shards in a cone. Dodge to the sides.
- Ground Freeze: It slams the ground, creating expanding ice patches that inflict freeze. Avoid standing in these areas.
- Frost Nova: Charges and releases a large AoE freeze burst. Similar to Robarg's Poison Nova, move out of the red indicator.
- Phase 2: Enraged State (HP below 50%)
- Blizzard Field: Frost Bot creates a swirling blizzard around itself, dealing continuous Frost damage and slowing movement. This makes melee combat extremely challenging.
- Ice Prison: It targets a player and encases them in an ice prison, rendering them immobile. Other players must quickly destroy the ice prison to free their teammate. Prioritize this immediately!
- Shatter Priority: The Frost Bot's shield is often accompanied by its most dangerous abilities. Breaking it quickly is paramount to prevent team wipes.
- Strategy:
- Maintain good spacing to avoid multiple Ice Shards.
- Always be aware of the ground for expanding ice patches.
- When a player is trapped in an Ice Prison, everyone should switch targets to free them instantly.
- During the Blizzard Field, ranged DPS should shine. Melee use hit-and-run tactics or temporarily switch to a ranged weapon if possible.
- Utilize Omnium Shield to block some of the Frost Bot's heavy attacks or protect teammates trapped in Ice Prison.
- Consider bringing a weapon with a strong charge attack, like Shiro's Chakram of the Seas, to quickly break the Ice Prison.
- Healers should be ready for sustained damage during the Blizzard Field and burst damage from un-dodged attacks.
