Character Unlocks

Unlocking new characters in Vampire Survivors is a core part of expanding your arsenal and discovering new playstyles. This section details the specific requirements and strategies for acquiring each survivor, from the foundational heroes to the more enigmatic figures.

Base Game Character Unlocks

The initial roster of survivors provides a strong foundation, and many of them are unlocked through straightforward progression or achieving specific milestones.

  • Antonio Belpaese: Your very first survivor, Antonio is available from the start of the game. He wields the Whip, a reliable weapon for early-game crowd control.
  • Imelda Belpaese: To unlock Imelda, you must survive for 5 minutes in any stage. She starts with the Magic Wand, a potent projectile weapon that scales well into later stages.
  • Pasqualina Belpaese: Survive for 10 minutes in any stage to unlock Pasqualina. Her starting weapon is the Runetracer, a unique bouncing projectile that can clear out groups of enemies effectively.
  • Gennaro Belpaese: Gennaro becomes available after surviving for 15 minutes in any stage. He begins with the Knife, a fast-firing weapon that excels at single-target damage.
  • Arca Ladonna: To unlock Arca, you need to defeat a total of 5,000 enemies across all your runs. Arca starts with the Fire Wand, a powerful area-of-effect weapon that can quickly clear out hordes.
  • Porta Ladonna: Porta is unlocked by defeating a total of 3,000 enemies in a single run. She starts with the Lightning Ring, a devastating weapon that strikes multiple enemies simultaneously. This unlock often requires a strong build focused on area damage.
  • Poe Ratcho: To acquire Poe, you must collect a total of 50 floor chickens across all your runs. Floor chickens are health-restoring items dropped by certain enemies or found in destructible objects. Poe starts with the Garlic, an excellent defensive weapon that damages enemies in a small radius around you.
  • Lama Ladonna: Lama is unlocked by surviving for 20 minutes with any character. She starts with the Axe, a high-damage projectile weapon that can be challenging to aim but devastating when mastered.
  • Mortaccio: Mortaccio is unlocked by defeating a total of 3,000 skeletons. Skeletons are common enemies found in many stages, particularly the Inlaid Library. He starts with the Bone, a bouncing projectile weapon that can be surprisingly effective.
  • Dommario: To unlock Dommario, you must collect a total of 100,000 gold across all your runs. This is a cumulative total, so focus on picking up every coin you see. Dommario starts with the King Bible, a powerful orbiting weapon that provides excellent crowd control.
  • Krochi Freetto: Krochi is unlocked by defeating a total of 100,000 enemies across all your runs. This will naturally happen as you play more. Krochi starts with the Cross, a boomerang-like projectile that can hit multiple enemies.
  • Christine Davain: Christine is unlocked by purchasing her for 1,000 gold from the character selection screen after meeting the other unlock criteria. She starts with the Pentagram, a highly destructive weapon that clears the screen of enemies but has a long cooldown.
  • Pugnala Provola: To unlock Pugnala, you must find and open the Coffin in the Inlaid Library. The Coffin is a special event that appears after surviving for a certain amount of time. Pugnala starts with the Phiera Der Tuphello and Eight the Sparrow, two powerful projectile weapons that synergize well.
  • Giovanna Grana: Giovanna is unlocked by finding and opening the Coffin in the Gallo Tower. Similar to Pugnala, this is a time-based event. Giovanna starts with the Gatti Amari, a unique weapon that summons cats to attack enemies.
  • Poppea Pecorina: Poppea is unlocked by finding and opening the Coffin in the Dairy Plant. She starts with the Song of Mana, a powerful area-of-effect weapon that damages enemies in a wide radius.
  • Concetta Caper: Concetta is unlocked by finding and opening the Coffin in the Green Acres. She starts with the Shadow Pinion, a weapon that drops projectiles in your wake.

Secret Character Unlocks

Beyond the standard roster, Vampire Survivors features a number of secret characters, often requiring more obscure or challenging conditions to unlock. These characters frequently offer unique starting weapons and stat bonuses, making them highly sought after.

  • Toastie: Toastie is a notoriously difficult character to unlock. You must defeat the Stalker (a green reaper that appears in the Dairy Plant) and then quickly type "spam" before the death animation finishes. This requires precise timing.
