Farming for Specific Achievements
Vampire Survivors is a game brimming with achievements, many of which unlock new characters, weapons, stages, and power-ups. While some achievements come naturally through regular gameplay, others require specific strategies and dedicated farming runs. This section will guide you through efficiently tackling some of the more challenging or time-consuming achievements.
General Achievement Farming Tips
- Prioritize Unlocks: Always check what new content an achievement unlocks. Prioritizing achievements that grant powerful characters or weapons can significantly accelerate future runs.
- Endless Mode: For achievements requiring high kill counts or extended survival, Endless Mode (unlocked by defeating the final boss in Eudaimonia M.) is often your best friend. The increasing enemy density and lack of a hard time limit make it ideal.
- Hyper Mode: Hyper Mode (unlocked by finding the coffin in each stage) increases movement speed, projectile speed, and gold gain. This can speed up many farming runs, especially those focused on gold or reaching specific areas quickly.
- Arcanas: Don't underestimate the power of Arcanas. Cards like "Awakening" (for Curse), "Mad Groove" (for item collection), or "Wicked Season" (for stat scaling) can be game-changers for specific achievement goals.
- Curse Management: For kill-count achievements, increasing Curse via items like Skull O'Maniac or the "Awakening" Arcana will spawn more enemies, accelerating your progress. Be mindful of your build's ability to handle the increased difficulty.
- Gold Fever: For gold-related achievements, stack Greed and use the "Disco of Gold" Arcana.
Specific Achievement Farming Strategies
"I'm a Survivor!" (Survive 30 minutes with any character)
This is a foundational achievement, but new players might struggle. The key is to focus on defensive and area-of-effect weapons.
- Recommended Character: Gennaro Belpaese (starts with Knife, which evolves into the powerful Thousand Edge).
- Recommended Stage: Mad Forest (easiest starting stage).
- Weapon Priority:
- King Bible / Unholy Vespers: Excellent early-game defense and damage.
- Garlic / Soul Eater: Provides close-range protection and healing.
- Santa Water / Holy Forbidden: Great area denial.
- Axe / Death Axe: High damage, especially with area upgrades.
- Item Priority:
- Empty Tome: Reduces weapon cooldowns significantly.
- Spellbinder: Increases weapon duration.
- Candelabrador: Increases weapon area.
- Armor: Reduces incoming damage.
- Duplicator: Increases projectile count.
- Strategy: Keep moving in circles to collect experience gems and avoid being swarmed. Prioritize evolving your core weapons. By 20 minutes, your build should be strong enough to mostly stand still.
"Millionaire" (Collect 1,000,000 gold in a single run)
This achievement requires a dedicated gold-farming build and often benefits from Endless Mode.
- Recommended Character:
- Trouser: Starts with +100% Greed and gains +1% Greed per level. The absolute best for gold farming.
- Big Trouser: (Unlocked by evolving the Great Gospel) Even better, as he starts with Candybox and has higher base stats.
- Imelda Belpaese: Gains +10% experience per 5 levels, helping you level up faster to get more Greed from Trouser.
- Recommended Stage: Bone Zone (has a high concentration of gold-dropping enemies) or Cappella Magna (for its high enemy density and potential for gold-generating events).
- Arcana Priority:
- Disco of Gold (XIV): Essential. Picking up a coin bag triggers Gold Fever, making all enemies drop gold coins for a short duration.
- Wicked Season (XV): Scales your Growth, Luck, Greed, and Curse over time. Crucial for maximizing gold.
- Awakening (II): Increases Curse, Greed, and Luck. More Curse means more enemies, more gold.
- Weapon Priority:
- Garlic / Soul Eater: Provides close-range protection and healing, allowing you to stay in the thick of enemies.
- Santa Water / Holy Forbidden: Great for clearing large groups.
- Laurel / Crimson Shroud: Provides invincibility, allowing you to survive endless waves.
- Clock Lancet / Infinite Corridor: Freezes enemies, giving you breathing room and helping with survival.
- Item Priority:
- Stone Mask: +50% Greed. Absolutely mandatory.
- Crown: +10% Growth. Helps you level up faster for more Greed from Trouser.
- Skull O'Maniac: +10% Curse. More enemies = more gold.
- Attractorb: Increases pickup radius, ensuring you grab all gold and experience.
- Tome / Spellbinder: To maximize weapon uptime.
- Strategy:
- Start by prioritizing Stone Mask and Crown.
- Get Disco of Gold as your first Arcana.
- Focus on evolving Garlic and Santa Water for crowd control.
- Once you have a decent defensive setup, start stacking Curse with Skull O'Maniac and the Awakening Arcana.
- Keep moving to collect all gold coins, triggering Gold Fever as often as possible.
- In Endless Mode, the gold generation becomes exponential. Aim for a build that can survive indefinitely.
"Defeat 100,000 Enemies" (and similar high kill count achievements)
These achievements are best tackled in stages with high enemy density and using powerful area-of-effect weapons.
- Recommended Character:
- Poe Ratcho: Starts with Garlic, excellent for early-game survival and crowd control.
- Concetta Caper: Starts with Shadow Pinion, which evolves into the powerful Valkyrie Turner.
- Red Death: Unlocked by defeating Death. Has incredibly high base stats and starts with Death Spiral, making him a killing machine.
- Recommended Stage:
- Bone Zone: Features dense enemy waves and a constant stream of reapers.
- Cappella Magna: Extremely high enemy density, especially in Hyper and Endless modes.
- Il Molise: While not for raw kill counts, it's excellent for specific enemy types (e.g., plants for "Defeat 3,000 Plants").
- Arcana Priority:
- Awakening (II): Increases Curse, leading to more enemies.
- Slash (XIII): Boosts critical damage, especially for weapons like Axe, Knife, and Whip.
- Wicked Season (XV): Scales Curse over time, further increasing enemy spawns.
- Weapon Priority:
- Axe / Death Axe: High damage, especially with criticals and area upgrades.
- King Bible / Unholy Vespers: Constant area damage and protection.
- Santa Water / Holy Forbidden: Excellent area denial.
- Garlic / Soul Eater: Close-range protection and healing.
- Runetracer / No Future: Bounces off enemies, great for dense groups.
- Song of Mana / Mannajja: Covers a wide area and slows enemies.
- Item Priority:
- Skull O'Maniac: Increases Curse, essential for maximizing enemy spawns.
- Candelabrador: Increases weapon area.
- Duplicator: Increases projectile count.
- Empty Tome: Reduces weapon cooldowns.
- Spinach: Increases weapon damage.
- Strategy:
- Focus on evolving your core area-of-effect weapons quickly.
- Stack Curse as much as possible using Skull O'Maniac and the Awakening/Wicked Season Arcanas.
- In Endless Mode, you can accumulate millions of kills if your build is strong enough to survive indefinitely.
- Consider using the "Mad Groove" Arcana to pull all stage items to you, ensuring you get all passive upgrades quickly.
"Evolve [Weapon Name]" (e.g., Evolve Knife into Thousand Edge)
These achievements are straightforward but require knowing the correct passive item pairing.
General Steps:
- Select a character who starts with or can easily acquire the base weapon.
- Level up the base weapon to its maximum level (usually 8).
- Acquire the specific passive item required for evolution.
- Level up the passive item to its maximum level (usually 6).
- Open a treasure chest. If both conditions are met, the weapon will evolve.
Example: Evolve Knife into Thousand Edge
- Base Weapon: Knife (Level 8)
- Passive Item: Bracer (Level 6)
- Recommended Character: Gennaro Belpaese (starts with Knife).
- Strategy: Prioritize leveling Knife and Bracer. Use the "Mad Groove" Arcana if you want to quickly pull Bracer to you.
For a complete list of weapon evolutions, refer to the "Weapon Evolution Guide" section of this guide.
"Find the Coffin" (in each stage)
Each main stage contains a hidden coffin that unlocks a new character. Finding them also unlocks Hyper Mode for that stage.
- General Strategy: Use the "Mad Groove" Arcana (XIX). This Arcana pulls all stage items, including the coffin, to your position after 1 minute. This is by far the easiest way to find them.
- Manual Search: If you don't have "Mad Groove" or prefer to explore, look for a question mark on your map (if you have the Map power-up). The coffin is usually guarded by a group of elite enemies.
Coffin Locations & Unlocks:
| Stage | Character Unlocked | General Location |
|---|---|---|
| Mad Forest | Pugnala Provola | Far to the west of the starting point. |
| Inlaid Library | Giovanna Grana | Far to the east of the starting point. |
| Gallo Tower | Poppea Pecorina | Far to the north of the starting point. |
| Cappella Magna | Concetta Caper | Far to the south of the starting point. |
| Lake Foscari | Eleanor Uziron | North-west corner, behind a destructible wall. Requires a specific weapon to break. |
| Abyss Foscari | Maruto Cuts | South-east corner, behind a destructible wall. Requires a specific weapon to break. |
| Forresta Morta | Luminaire Foscari | North-east corner, behind a destructible wall. Requires a specific weapon to break. |
Note: For Lake Foscari, Abyss Foscari, and Forresta Morta, breaking the walls requires specific weapon evolutions from the DLC characters themselves. This creates a small puzzle to unlock them.
"Defeat [Boss Name]" (e.g., Defeat the Drowner)
Most bosses are tied to specific stages or events. Ensure you have a strong build capable of handling their unique attacks.
- The Drowner: Appears in Gallo Tower at 15:00. Focus on high damage weapons and movement speed to dodge its projectiles.
- The Giant Enemy Crab: Appears in Bone Zone at 10:00. It has high health. Use weapons with good single-target damage or sustained area damage.
- Death: Appears at 30:00 in any standard stage. Defeating Death requires a very specific build, typically involving the Crimson Shroud (evolved Laurel) and Infinite Corridor (evolved Clock Lancet). These two weapons reduce Death's HP to 1 and freeze it, respectively, allowing you to defeat it.
By following these detailed strategies, you'll be well on your way to conquering every achievement Vampire Survivors has to offer!
