Arcana Combinations
Arcanas are powerful modifiers that can drastically alter your gameplay and build potential in Vampire Survivors. Unlocking and strategically combining them is key to pushing further into challenging stages and achieving high scores. This section will guide you through effective Arcana combinations, focusing on synergy and specific build paths.
Unlocking Arcanas
Before you can even think about combinations, you need to unlock the Arcanas themselves. The process is straightforward:
- Unlock the "Randomazzo" Relic: This is the first step. The Randomazzo is located in the Dairy Plant. Navigate to the top-right corner of the map to find it. Once collected, Arcanas will become available for selection at the start of each run.
- Unlock Individual Arcanas: Each Arcana has a specific unlock condition, usually tied to evolving a particular weapon or reaching a certain level with a character. For example:
- I - Game Killer: Evolve the King Bible into the Unholy Vespers.
- III - Tragic End: Evolve the Death Spiral (Axe) into the Death Scythe.
- VI - Sarabande of Healing: Evolve the Garlic into the Soul Eater.
- XX - Silent Old Sanctuary: Reach Level 50 with Poe Ratcho.
Prioritize unlocking Arcanas that complement your preferred playstyle or characters first.
Strategic Arcana Selection
You can select up to three Arcanas per run: one at the start, one after collecting your first chest (usually around the 10-minute mark), and a final one after collecting your second chest (around the 20-minute mark). This staggered selection allows for dynamic build adjustments.
Powerful Arcana Combinations
Here are some highly effective Arcana combinations, categorized by their primary focus:
1. The "Infinite Corridor" Build (Area & Damage)
This combination focuses on maximizing area and damage, particularly with weapons that have persistent effects or large hitboxes. It's excellent for clearing screens and pushing into late-game.
- Arcana 1 (Start): XX - Silent Old Sanctuary
- Why: This Arcana grants a significant bonus to Might, Projectile Speed, and Duration when you stand still, and a bonus to Area when moving. This duality is perfect for weapons that benefit from both.
- Strategy: Start with a character like Poe Ratcho (for his starting Garlic) or Pugnala Provola (for her starting Phiera Der Tuphello and Eight the Sparrow). Focus on evolving weapons that scale well with Area and Duration.
- Arcana 2 (10-minute chest): I - Game Killer
- Why: Game Killer provides a chance for projectiles to explode on impact, dealing additional damage and knocking back enemies. This synergizes incredibly well with high projectile count weapons and the Area bonus from Silent Old Sanctuary.
- Strategy: By this point, you should have at least one or two evolved weapons. Aim for Unholy Vespers (King Bible), Death Scythe (Axe), or Vandalier (Peachone & Ebony Wings). The explosions will clear out dense enemy packs.
- Arcana 3 (20-minute chest): III - Tragic End
- Why: Tragic End causes enemies defeated by your weapons to explode, dealing damage to nearby enemies. This creates a chain reaction, especially when combined with the large areas and explosions from the previous Arcanas.
- Strategy: This Arcana truly shines when your screen is full of enemies. The combined explosions from Game Killer and Tragic End will create a devastating cascade, making it difficult for anything to get close.
- Recommended Weapons: King Bible, Axe, Santa Water, Runetracer, Garlic, Laurel (for defense).
- Recommended Passives: Spellbinder (Duration), Candelabrador (Area), Empty Tome (Cooldown), Duplicator (Amount).
2. The "Healing Tank" Build (Survivability & Sustain)
This build focuses on making you incredibly durable, allowing you to absorb damage and heal through even the toughest encounters. Ideal for new players or those struggling with survival.
- Arcana 1 (Start): VI - Sarabande of Healing
- Why: This Arcana doubles the healing from all sources. This is your cornerstone for survivability.
- Strategy: Start with a character that benefits from healing, such as Poe Ratcho (for his starting Garlic, which evolves into Soul Eater, a healing weapon) or Krochi Freetto (for his bonus Revives). Prioritize evolving Garlic early.
- Arcana 2 (10-minute chest): XV - Out of Bounds
- Why: Out of Bounds provides a significant bonus to Armor and MoveSpeed when you are at low health. This acts as a panic button, making you tougher when you need it most.
- Strategy: Continue to build up your healing capabilities. Consider picking up the Laurel for temporary invincibility, which pairs well with this Arcana's defensive nature.
- Arcana 3 (20-minute chest): XII - Slash
- Why: While primarily a damage Arcana, Slash offers a chance for critical hits to heal you. With Sarabande of Healing, these critical heals become substantial, further boosting your sustain.
- Strategy: Ensure you have weapons that can crit. The Axe (evolves to Death Scythe) and Knife (evolves to Thousand Edge) are good candidates. The combination of increased healing and critical healing makes you incredibly resilient.
- Recommended Weapons: Garlic, Laurel, Santa Water, King Bible, Axe, Knife.
- Recommended Passives: Pummarola (HP Regen), Armor (Defense), Hollow Heart (Max HP), Stone Mask (Greed, for more gold to buy upgrades).
3. The "Gold Farming" Build (Greed & Efficiency)
This combination is designed to maximize gold acquisition, making it perfect for grinding out unlocks and permanent power-ups. Best used on stages with high enemy density like the Bone Zone or Moongolow.
- Arcana 1 (Start): IV - Awake
- Why: Awake grants a bonus to Max HP, Armor, and Revives. While not directly gold-related, the increased survivability allows you to stay in the run longer and collect more gold.
- Strategy: Start with a character that has good early game clear, like Imelda Belpaese (for her Magic Wand) or Pugnala Provola. Focus on evolving weapons that can clear large groups of enemies efficiently.
- Arcana 2 (10-minute chest): XIX - Heart of Fire
- Why: Heart of Fire makes all fire-based weapons explode on impact, dealing damage and creating gold coins. This is a direct gold generation Arcana.
- Strategy: Prioritize obtaining and evolving fire-based weapons like the Fire Wand (evolves to Hellfire) and Santa Water (evolves to La Borra). The explosions will generate a steady stream of gold.
- Arcana 3 (20-minute chest): VIII - Mad Groove
- Why: Mad Groove pulls all stage items (pickups, chests, light sources) towards you every two minutes. This is invaluable for collecting all the gold and experience gems dropped by enemies, especially when combined with the gold generation from Heart of Fire.
- Strategy: Position yourself strategically to maximize the collection of items when Mad Groove activates. This Arcana ensures you don't miss out on any valuable resources.
- Recommended Weapons: Fire Wand, Santa Water, Axe, King Bible, Garlic.
- Recommended Passives: Stone Mask (Greed), Crown (Growth), Attractorb (Magnet), Skull O'Maniac (Curse, for more enemies and thus more gold).
Experiment with these combinations and adapt them to your preferred characters and playstyle. The beauty of the Arcana system lies in its flexibility and the endless possibilities for creating unique and powerful builds!
