Item Shop Priority Guide
Welcome, fellow survivors! The Item Shop is your primary avenue for permanent power progression in Vampire Survivors. Understanding what to buy and when can drastically reduce the grind and make those early runs far more manageable. This guide will walk you through the optimal purchasing order, focusing on maximizing your gold efficiency and unlocking crucial mechanics.
Early Game: Foundation & Gold Generation
Your first few runs will be tough, and gold will be scarce. Prioritize items that either directly boost your survivability or, more importantly, increase your gold income for future runs. Think of these as investments.
- Greed (500g, 1000g, 1500g, 2000g, 2500g): This is your absolute top priority. Greed increases the amount of gold you collect from enemies and chests. Maxing this out early means every subsequent run generates significantly more gold, accelerating all other purchases. Focus on getting at least the first three ranks as quickly as possible.
- Armor (100g, 200g, 300g, 400g, 500g): While not as impactful as Greed for long-term progression, a few ranks of Armor early on can be the difference between surviving an extra minute or two and dying prematurely. This directly translates to more experience and gold per run. Aim for 2-3 ranks after your initial Greed investments.
- Growth (1000g, 2000g, 3000g, 4000g, 5000g): Once you have a decent gold income from Greed, start investing in Growth. This increases the experience you gain, allowing you to level up faster and evolve your weapons more quickly within a run. Faster leveling means more power, which means longer runs and more gold.
Mid Game: Survivability & Utility
Once you've got a solid gold generation engine and are leveling up efficiently, it's time to shore up your defenses and unlock useful utilities that make runs smoother and open up new strategies.
- Might (500g, 1000g, 1500g, 2000g, 2500g): Increased damage is always good. As you face tougher enemies, a boost to your Might will help clear screens more effectively. Max this out after Growth.
- Revival (1000g, 2000g, 3000g, 4000g, 5000g): This is a game-changer. Having an extra life (or more!) allows you to make mistakes, push further, or recover from unexpected swarms. Prioritize getting at least one rank, then consider maxing it out as gold allows.
- Amount (1000g, 2000g, 3000g, 4000g, 5000g): This increases the number of projectiles or effects for certain weapons. For many builds, especially those relying on area-of-effect or projectile spam, Amount is incredibly powerful. Evaluate your preferred weapons; if they benefit, this is a strong pick.
- Magnet (100g, 200g, 300g, 400g, 500g): While seemingly minor, an increased Magnet radius means you spend less time chasing experience gems and more time dodging or attacking. This is a quality-of-life upgrade that subtly improves your gold and experience gain per run.
Late Game: Specialization & Completion
By this point, you should be consistently reaching 20-30 minute runs and accumulating significant gold. Now you can focus on maximizing specific stats or completing your shop upgrades.
- Cooldown (1000g, 2000g, 3000g, 4000g, 5000g): Reducing cooldowns means your weapons fire more frequently. This is a massive damage boost, especially for high-impact weapons. Max this out once your core survivability and gold generation are solid.
- Area (1000g, 2000g, 3000g, 4000g, 5000g): Increases the area of effect for your weapons. Essential for crowd control and clearing large groups of enemies, particularly in later stages.
- Duration (1000g, 2000g, 3000g, 4000g, 5000g): Extends the active time of certain weapon effects. Great for weapons like the Axe or Holy Water.
- Speed (1000g, 2000g, 3000g, 4000g, 5000g): Projectile speed. While not as universally impactful as Cooldown or Area, it can be very beneficial for weapons like the Magic Wand or Runetracer.
- Luck (1000g, 2000g, 3000g, 4000g, 5000g): Increases your chance for better drops from light sources and chests, and can influence weapon evolution chances. A nice-to-have for optimizing runs.
- Reroll (500g, 1000g, 1500g, 2000g, 2500g): Allows you to reroll level-up options. Invaluable for perfecting builds and getting the exact weapons and passive items you need. Prioritize this once you have a good understanding of various weapon evolutions.
- Skip (500g, 1000g, 1500g, 2000g, 2500g): Allows you to skip level-up options. Useful for avoiding unwanted items when your build is already strong.
- Banish (500g, 1000g, 1500g, 2000g, 2500g): Permanently removes a weapon or item from your level-up pool for the current run. Extremely powerful for focusing your build and ensuring you get key evolutions.
Remember, this is a general guideline. Your specific character choice and playstyle might slightly alter these priorities. However, by focusing on gold generation first, then survivability and utility, you'll set yourself up for consistent success in Vampire Survivors.
