Mission Walkthroughs (Orcish Horde)

Mission 1: The New Horde

Your journey begins with establishing a foothold. This mission is straightforward, focusing on basic resource gathering and unit production.

  • Objective: Destroy the Human encampment.
  • Starting Units: 3 Peons, 3 Grunts.
  • Strategy:
    1. Immediately assign all 3 Peons to gather Gold from the nearby Gold Mine.
    2. Train 2-3 additional Peons from your Great Hall to start chopping Lumber from the surrounding forests.
    3. Construct a Barracks as soon as you have sufficient resources (400 Gold, 200 Lumber).
    4. Begin training Grunts from the Barracks. Aim for a force of at least 6-8 Grunts.
    5. Once you have a decent fighting force, send your Grunts north-east. The Human encampment is small, typically consisting of a few Footmen and an Archer or two, guarding a Town Hall and Barracks.
    6. Focus fire on one enemy unit at a time to eliminate threats efficiently.
    7. Destroy all Human structures to complete the mission.

Mission 2: The Shores of Lordaeron

This mission introduces naval combat and the importance of securing multiple resource points.

  • Objective: Establish a base on the northern island and destroy all Human forces.
  • Starting Units: 4 Peons, 2 Grunts, 1 Transport.
  • Strategy:
    1. Load your 4 Peons and 2 Grunts into the Transport.
    2. Sail the Transport north-east to the small island with a Gold Mine. Disembark your units.
    3. Immediately assign 3 Peons to the Gold Mine and 1 Peon to chop Lumber.
    4. Construct a Great Hall on the island. This will be your primary base.
    5. Train additional Peons to rapidly expand your resource gathering. You'll need a steady income of both Gold and Lumber.
    6. Build a Barracks and a Shipyard. Start training Grunts and eventually Raiders for land combat, and Destroyers for naval superiority.
    7. The Humans will send occasional Footmen and Archers via Transports to your island. Keep a few Grunts near your landing zone to repel these incursions.
    8. Once you have 3-4 Destroyers, send them to patrol the waters around your island and attack any Human Transports or Cruisers they encounter.
    9. Build a second Transport and load it with 6-8 Grunts and possibly 2 Raiders.
    10. Sail this force to the main Human landmass, located to the north-west of your starting island. There are several potential landing spots; choose one that is lightly defended.
    11. Disembark your troops and systematically dismantle the Human base. Prioritize their Barracks and Lumber Mill to cripple their production.
    12. Destroy all remaining Human structures and units to achieve victory.

Mission 3: The Battle of Hillsbrad

Prepare for a more challenging land-based assault, requiring a balanced army composition and careful resource management.

  • Objective: Destroy the Human fortress at Hillsbrad.
  • Starting Units: 5 Peons, 4 Grunts, 1 Ogre.
  • Strategy:
    1. Your starting position is in the south-west corner of the map. Immediately set your Peons to work on the nearby Gold Mine and Lumber.
    2. Construct a Barracks and a War Mill as soon as resources allow.
    3. Train additional Peons to ensure a strong economy. Aim for 8-10 Peons on Gold and 6-8 on Lumber.
    4. Begin training Grunts and Ogres from your Barracks. Ogres are powerful, but expensive, so balance their production with Grunts.
    5. Upgrade your Barracks to an Ogre Mound to unlock Ogre production.
    6. Research upgrades at the War Mill, such as "Steel Melee Weapons" and "Steel Armor" for your ground units.
    7. The Human base is located to the north-east. They will send periodic attacks consisting of Footmen, Archers, and sometimes Knights. Position your Grunts and Ogres defensively around your base entrance.
    8. Once you have a force of approximately 8-10 Grunts and 4-5 Ogres, begin your assault. Consider adding a few Catapults (built from the War Mill) to your army to deal with defensive towers and walls.
    9. Advance slowly, using your Ogres as tanks to absorb damage and your Grunts to deal consistent damage. Focus on destroying Guard Towers first, then Barracks and Stables.
    10. Be prepared to retreat and reinforce if your forces take heavy losses.
    11. Systematically clear the Human base, destroying all structures and units. The mission concludes once the last Human building falls.
