Focus & Operator/Drifter

The Operator and Drifter represent a sificant evolution in your Tenno's capabilities, unlocking powerful new abilities and a deeper connection to the Warframe universe. This advanced system, known as Focus, allows you to further customize your playstyle and gain access to unique combat mechanics and passive buffs.

After completing the "Chains of Sorrow" quest, you gain access to the Operator. The Drifter is introduced later through the "The New War" quest. Both are essentially different manifestations of your awakened consciousness, capable of leaving your Warframe to fight independently. This is a pivotal moment in your progression, opening up endgame content and challenging encounters.

The Operator:

  • Unlocking: The Operator is unlocked after completing the "Chains of Sorrow" quest. You'll gain access to the Zenurik, Madurai, Vazarin, Unairu, and Naramon Focus Schools.
  • Abilities: The Operator wields a Void-based weapon called a "Operator Amp" and can use unique abilities tied to their chosen Focus School. These abilities range from offensive blasts to defensive buffs and healing.
  • Focus Schools: Each school offers a distinct set of passive abilities and active skills. For example, Zenurik enhances energy regeneration, while Madurai boosts damage.
  • Focus Points: You earn Focus Points by completing missions with your Operator or Drifter active, or by using specific items. These points are used to unlock and upgrade abilities within your chosen Focus School.
  • Eidolon Hunts: A major endgame activity involves hunting Eidolon Plains creatures on the Plains of Eidolon, where your Operator's abilities are crucial for success.

The Drifter:

  • Unlocking: The Drifter is introduced during "The New War" quest and becomes a playable character with their own progression.
  • Abilities: The Drifter also uses an Operator Amp and has access to a unique set of abilities and progression paths, often intertwined with the narrative.
  • Drifter Camps: You can establish a Drifter Camp in open-world zones, allowing for customization and access to unique activities.

Operator/Drifter Amps:

  • Customization: Operator Amps are modular weapons that can be customized with different cores, braces, and prisms to alter their firing modes, damage types, and effects.
  • Crafting: Amps are crafted using resources obtained from the Plains of Eidolon and the Orb Vallis.

Progression and Usage:

  • Focus Conversion: You can convert duplicate Focus Orbs into Focus Points for your chosen school.
  • Daily Cap: There's a daily cap on how much Focus you can earn, encouraging consistent engagement.
  • Synergy: The Operator/Drifter's abilities can synergize with your Warframe's abilities, creating powerful combat combinations.

Mastering your Operator or Drifter and their associated Focus School is essential for tackling the game's most challenging content, including Eidolon hunts, Steel Path, and certain story quests. Experiment with different Focus Schools and Amp configurations to find what best suits your playstyle.
