Dojo and Clan System

The Dojo is your Clan's home base in Warframe, a customizable space where you and your clanmates can research new weapons, Warframes, and gear, trade items, and socialize. Joining or creating a Clan and building a functional Dojo is a crucial step in your progression, unlocking a vast array of exclusive content.

Joining or Creating a Clan

There are two primary paths to engaging with the Clan system:

Joining an Existing Clan

This is often the quickest way to access Dojo benefits, especially for new players.

  • Method 1: Invitation: The most common way. Clan leaders or Warlords can send you an invitation. You'll see a notification in your Orbiter. Accept the invitation to join.
  • Method 2: Recruitment Chat: Monitor the in-game Recruitment Chat channel (accessible from the main chat window, usually the second tab). Many Clans actively recruit new members here. Look for messages like "LF new members for active Moon Clan, all research complete!"
  • Method 3: Community Forums/Discord: Many Warframe communities outside the game (like the official forums or popular Discord servers) have dedicated sections for Clan recruitment.

Actionable Tip: When joining, prioritize Clans that have a significant amount of research completed. This will immediately grant you access to powerful items without the need to contribute to their development.

Creating Your Own Clan

If you prefer to lead or want a private space, you can create your own Clan.

  1. Access the Clan Menu: From your Orbiter, open the main menu (Esc on PC). Navigate to "Communication" and then "Clan."
  2. Create Clan: If you are not in a Clan, you will see an option to "Create Clan."
  3. Name Your Clan: Choose a unique name for your Clan.
  4. Select Clan Tier: You'll start as a Ghost Clan (1-10 members). You can upgrade your Clan Tier later as your membership grows (Shadow, Storm, Mountain, Moon). Each tier increases the resource costs for building and research but also expands the maximum member count.
  5. Build the Clan Key: Once your Clan is created, you'll receive a blueprint for the "Clan Key" in your Foundry. This key requires 500 Credits, 100 Ferrite, and 50 Rubedo. Crafting it takes 30 seconds. Once built, you can access your Dojo.

Important Note: Creating and maintaining a Clan, especially a larger one, requires significant resource investment and active management. Consider this carefully if you're a solo player or new to the game.

Navigating and Building Your Dojo

Once you have your Clan Key, you can access your Dojo from the Star Chart by selecting the "Dojo" node, or from your Orbiter's main menu under "Communication" > "Clan" > "Visit Dojo."

Dojo Room Types and Functions

The Dojo is built room by room. Each room serves a specific purpose.

  • Oracle: This is the central hub for all research. You must build an Oracle before you can construct any Tenno Lab.
  • Tenno Lab: Researches Warframes, Archwings, and certain weapons.
  • Energy Lab: Researches Corpus-themed weapons and gear.
  • Chem Lab: Researches Grineer-themed weapons and gear.
  • Bio Lab: Researches Infested-themed weapons and gear.
  • Orokin Lab: Researches Dragon Keys and allows access to the Hema blueprint.
  • Dry Dock: Essential for building and customizing your Railjack. Allows access to Railjack research and components.
  • Trading Post: Allows players to trade items (Prime parts, mods, Platinum) with each other. Requires a minimum Mastery Rank 2 to trade.
  • Obstacle Course: A customizable room for parkour practice and friendly competitions.
  • Dueling Room: Allows clan members to engage in friendly PvP duels.
  • Grandest Hall/Great Hall/Clan Hall: These are foundational rooms that expand your Dojo's capacity and provide connection points for other rooms. You start with a Grandest Hall.
  • Cross Connector/T-Junction/Elevator: Used to connect rooms and manage the flow of your Dojo layout.
  • Reactor: Provides power for your Dojo. Essential for building more rooms. You'll need multiple Reactors as your Dojo expands.
  • Barracks (Ghost/Shadow/Storm/Mountain/Moon): Increases your Clan's member capacity. Build the appropriate Barracks for your desired Clan Tier.

Building Process Walkthrough

  1. Enter Construction Mode: Once in your Dojo, open the main menu (Esc on PC) and select "Dojo" > "Dojo Management" > "Build/Destroy Rooms."
  2. Select a Connector: Choose an available doorway or a blank space where you want to build.
  3. Choose a Room: A list of available rooms will appear. Select the room you wish to construct (e.g., a "Reactor" or "Tenno Lab").
  4. Resource Contribution: Each room requires specific resources (Credits, Ferrite, Rubedo, etc.) and a construction time. Clan members can contribute resources to speed up the process.
  5. Initiate Construction: Once enough resources are contributed, the room will begin construction. You can see the progress and remaining time.
  6. Complete Construction: After the timer expires, the room is built. You can now access its functions or connect other rooms to it.

Strategic Tip: Plan your Dojo layout carefully! While you can destroy rooms, it refunds only a fraction of the resources. Think about accessibility to key labs and the Trading Post.

Dojo Research and Blueprints

The primary benefit of a Dojo is access to exclusive research and blueprints.

Accessing Research

  1. Locate the Lab: Go to the specific Lab corresponding to the item you want to research (e.g., Tenno Lab for Warframes, Chem Lab for Grineer weapons).
  2. Interact with the Console: Find the research console within the Lab.
  3. Select Item: Browse the available blueprints. Unresearched items will show their resource cost and research time.
  4. Contribute Resources: Clan members must contribute the required resources (Credits, materials, sometimes Forma) to initiate the research.
  5. Initiate Research: Once resources are met, a Warlord or Architect can start the research.
  6. Claim Blueprint: After the research time (which can range from minutes to days) is complete, any clan member can claim the blueprint from the Lab console for a small Credit fee.

Key Research Items to Prioritize

  • Warframes: Many powerful Warframes are Dojo-exclusive, such as Wukong (Tenno Lab), Nezha (Tenno Lab), and Zephyr (Tenno Lab).
  • Weapons: A vast arsenal of unique weapons, including the Ignis Wraith (Energy Lab), Hema (Orokin Lab), and various modular weapons like the Kitguns (Fortuna's Rude Zuud/Father) and Zaws (Cetus' Hok) which have components researched in the Dojo.
  • Archwings: Some Archwing components and weapons are researched here.
  • Dragon Keys: Essential for Orokin Vault runs in the Derelict (now Deimos), which drop Corrupted Mods. Researched in the Orokin Lab.
  • Railjack Components: All starting Railjack components and subsequent upgrades are researched and built in the Dry Dock.

Expert Advice: If you're in a new Clan, focus on building an Oracle, then a Reactor, and then the Tenno, Energy, Chem, and Bio Labs in quick succession. Prioritize research for Warframes and popular weapons like the Ignis Wraith first, as these offer significant power spikes.

Dojo Decorations and Customization

Beyond functionality, Dojos are also a canvas for creativity.

  • Decoration Mode: Similar to building rooms, access "Dojo Management" > "Place Decorations."
  • Decoration Blueprints: Many decorations are available from the start, while others require research in specific labs or are event-exclusive.
  • Resource Costs: Decorations also require resources to build.
  • Energy and Capacity: Each room has a decoration capacity and an energy capacity. Larger, more complex decorations consume more of these. Reactors increase energy capacity.

Creative Tip: Don't be afraid to experiment! You can move, rotate, and even scale many decorations. Use the "Undo" and "Redo" functions to refine your designs.

The Dojo and Clan system is a cornerstone of the Warframe experience, offering deep progression, social interaction, and a creative outlet. Embrace it, and you'll unlock a wealth of content to enhance your journey through the Origin System.
