Allegiances and Influence: Factions & Syndicates
The Origin System is a battleground for various factions, each with their own ideologies, goals, and territories. As a Tenno, you can choose to al yourself with specific Syndicates, gaining their favor to unlock unique rewards. Understanding these factions and their relationships is crucial for both narrative immersion and for acquiring powerful mods, weapons, and cosmetic items that can sificantly enhance your gameplay. This guide will break down the major factions and how to navigate the Syndicate system.
The primary factions you'll encounter are the Grineer, a militaristic and genetically engineered race focused on conquest; the Corpus, a profit-driven technocratic society that values technological advancement and commerce; and the Infested, a parasitic biological entity that seeks to consume and assimilate all life. Beyond these major antagonists, there are numerous smaller factions and specialized groups, such as the Orokin, the Sentients, and various Syndicate organizations.
Major Syndicates and Their Offerings:
Syndicates are neutral or semi-neutral organizations that offer unique rewards in exchange for your allegiance and the completion of specific missions. Gaining standing with a Syndicate involves completing Syndicate missions, using their sigils, and sometimes participating in specific in-game events. Each Syndicate has a rival, and gaining standing with one often decreases standing with its rival, forcing strategic choices.

Gaining Syndicate Standing:
To gain standing with a Syndicate, you must first equip their Sigil on your Warframe. These sigils are obtained from the Syndicate's representative in the Relays. Completing missions while wearing the sigil will grant you standing with that Syndicate. Syndicate missions will appear on your Navigation console once you reach a certain standing level. These missions often involve specific objectives, such as assassinating targets or retrieving data, and are crucial for advancing your standing and unlocking higher-tier rewards.
Syndicate Weapons and Mods:
Each Syndicate offers a unique set of rewards, including powerful weapon mods, Warframe ability augment mods, unique weapons (like the Prisma Angstrum or Vaykor Sicarus), and cosmetic items. Warframe augment mods are particularly valuable, as they sificantly alter or enhance a Warframe's abilities, allowing for specialized builds. For example, the 'Augur Reach' mod from Cephalon Suda increases your ability range.
Other Factions:
Beyond the Syndicates, you'll interact with various other factions. The **Orokin** are the ancient, technologically advanced civilization that created the Warframes and the Tenno. The **Sentients** are powerful, adaptive machines that are a major threat. The **Solaris United** and **Ostron** are communities in the open-world areas, offering their own unique progression and rewards. Understanding the lore and relationships between these factions adds depth to your Warframe experience.
