Companion Systems
Companions in Warframe are more than just pets; they are loyal allies that provide crucial support in combat, utility, and even unique passive bonuses. From robotic Sentinels to fierce Kubrows and agile Kavats, each companion type offers distinct advantages that can sificantly enhance your gameplay.
Companions are acquired through various means, including blueprints from the Market, Clan research, or by hatching them from eggs. Once acquired, they can be equipped in your Arsenal and deployed alongside your Warframe. Their effectiveness is further amplified through modding, allowing you to tailor their abilities to your specific needs.
Companion Types:
- Sentinels: Robotic companions that float alongside you. They offer several utility and offensive mods.
- Examples: Carrier (ammo retrieval), Djinn (debuffs), Helios (scans enemies), Shade (invisibility).
- Mods: Sentinel mods focus on weapon enhancements, utility functions (like Vacuum for loot collection), and defensive capabilities.
- Kubrows: Genetically engineered canine creatures. They are melee-focused and can provide combat support and unique passive buffs.
- Hatching: Kubrows are hatched from Kubrow Eggs, which can be found on Earth. Requires a Kubrow incubator segment.
- Imprints: You can create imprints of your Kubrow to pass on certain traits when hatching a new one.
- Mods: Kubrow mods enhance their melee damage, survivability, and can grant unique abilities like healing or armor stripping.
- Kavats: Feline companions with a focus on agility and stealth. They can provide combat support, debuffs, and utility.
- Acquisition: Kavats are acquired by scanning specific feral Kavats in missions and then using their genetic code to breed them. Requires a Kavat incubator segment.
- Types: Smeeta Kavat (buffs, resource doubling), Adarza Kavat (critical chance buff).
- Mods: Kavat mods enhance their damage, speed, and can grant abilities like stealth or enemy debuffs.
- Moas: Robotic companions with a focus on crowd control and utility.
- Acquisition: Moas can be purchased from the Market or crafted.
- Mods: Moa mods focus on crowd control effects, buffs, and debuffs.
- Beasts (e.g., Panzer Vulpaphyla, Panzer Daikyu): These are unique companions often acquired through specific quests or events, offering powerful and specialized abilities.
Modding Companions:
Just like Warframes and weapons, companions can be modded to enhance their performance. Key mods include:
- Combat Mods: Increase damage, attack speed, and critical stats.
- Utility Mods: Provide essential functions like Vacuum (for Sentinels, pulls loot to you), Ammo Case (for Carrier), or Stealth (for Shade).
- Survivability Mods: Increase health, shields, and armor to keep your companion alive longer.
Companion AI and Behavior:
Companions have their own AI and will act independently in combat. Their behavior can be influenced by their equipped mods and their inherent traits. For example, a Carrier will prioritize picking up ammo, while a Smeeta Kavat will try to apply its buffs.
Reviving Companions:
If your companion is downed, you can revive them a limited number of times per mission. Certain mods or abilities can increase the number of revives or provide automatic revives.
Choosing the right companion and modding it effectively can sificantly impact your survivability and efficiency in missions. Experiment with different companions to find the perfect ally for your playstyle.
