Mission Zones
Welcome, Acolyte, to the grim and perilous sectors of Tertium where your devotion to the Emperor will be tested. This section details the various Mission Zones you'll be deployed to, offering actionable strategies, key item locations, and enemy intelligence to ensure your survival and success. Remember, every mission is a step closer to purging the heresy that festers within the hive.
I. The Chasm Terminus
This sprawling industrial complex is a common starting point for many operations. Expect tight corridors, elevated walkways, and plenty of environmental hazards. The primary objective often involves securing data or sabotaging Nurgle's influence.
- Key Objectives:
- Data Interrogation: You'll frequently need to interact with Data-Cores found in control rooms. These are often defended by a surge of Scab Shooters and Dreg Stalkers. Prioritize clearing the room before initiating the download.
- Sabotage: Missions like "The Hourglass" require you to plant Melta Charges on specific machinery. Look for glowing red indicators on large pipes or generators. These areas often trigger an immediate horde event.
- Notable Locations & Strategies:
- Maintenance Tunnels: These cramped spaces are ideal for close-quarters combat. Zealots and Ogryns excel here. Watch for Pox Hounds and Trappers lurking in the shadows.
- Overlook Platforms: High ground offers excellent vantage points for Veteran Sharpshooters. Prioritize taking out enemy ranged units like Scab Gunners and Dreg Shotgunners before they can suppress your team.
- Ammo & Medicae Stations: These are typically found near objective points or at the end of major combat arenas. Always check side rooms and elevated platforms. A common Medicae Station location is just before the final defense objective in "The Chasm Logistratum."
- Enemy Intel: Expect a mix of Scab and Dreg forces. Crushers and Mauler elites are common in later stages, especially during extraction sequences.
II. The Throneside District
A more opulent, yet equally corrupted, sector of Tertium. Throneside features wider plazas, ornate architecture, and often more open combat arenas. Missions here frequently involve VIP extractions or securing high-value targets.
- Key Objectives:
- VIP Extraction: You'll need to locate and escort a Designated Asset (often a data-slate or a captured individual) to an extraction point. This asset will slow your movement and prevent certain actions. Designate one player to carry it, ideally an Ogryn or a well-armored Zealot.
- Relic Recovery: Missions like "The Metalfab" require you to retrieve Holy Relics from desecrated shrines. These often involve defending a small area while the relic is secured.
- Notable Locations & Strategies:
- Grand Atriums: These large, open areas are perfect for ranged combat. Psykers can unleash devastating area-of-effect abilities, while Veterans can pick off specials from afar. Be wary of flanking Poxwalkers and Ragers.
- Administrative Offices: Multi-level structures with numerous entry points. Use the verticality to your advantage, but be mindful of enemy snipers and Bomber grenades. Look for Scriptures and Grimoires hidden in cubicles and behind overturned desks.
- Extraction Zones: These are often heavily fortified. Establish a defensive perimeter, prioritize special enemies, and manage your ammo carefully. The final extraction in "The Ascension Riser" is a notorious choke point.
- Enemy Intel: Higher prevalence of Dreg forces, including Dreg Ragers and Dreg Shotgunners. Plague Ogryns are a more common sight here, often appearing in pairs during intense engagements.
III. The Foundry
A hellish landscape of molten metal, roaring machinery, and toxic fumes. The Foundry is characterized by its industrial hazards and tight, winding pathways. Objectives here often involve disabling production lines or destroying corrupted infrastructure.
- Key Objectives:
- Machine Disruption: You'll be tasked with interacting with Control Panels to overload or shut down specific machinery. These panels are often guarded by a mix of elites and a constant stream of basic enemies.
- Toxic Waste Disposal: Missions might require you to activate Purification Systems or seal Toxic Vents. These areas often have environmental damage over time, so move quickly and utilize cover.
- Notable Locations & Strategies:
- Smelting Pits: Avoid falling into the molten metal at all costs. Enemies can be pushed into these hazards, but so can you. Be mindful of Pox Bursters.
- Conveyor Belts: These can provide cover or hinder movement. Use them to your advantage, but don't get caught unaware. Stims are particularly useful here for quick repositioning.
- Ventilation Shafts: Often contain hidden paths or shortcuts. Always check for alternative routes, especially if your team is being overwhelmed. Scriptures are frequently tucked away in these less-traveled areas.
- Enemy Intel: Expect a higher concentration of Poxwalkers and Mutants due to the toxic environment. Flamers and Bombers thrive in the confined spaces and can quickly wipe out an unprepared team.
IV. The Warrens
Beneath the hive city's surface lies the Warrens – a labyrinthine network of sewers, forgotten tunnels, and makeshift encampments. This zone is dark, claustrophobic, and teeming with the most desperate and mutated elements of Nurgle's cult.
- Key Objectives:
- Purity Seal Placement: You'll need to place Purity Seals on corrupted altars or structural weak points. These often require a short channel time, leaving you vulnerable.
- Heretic Extermination: Direct combat objectives to clear out specific concentrations of heretics. These often culminate in a mini-boss encounter with a Plague Ogryn or Chaos Spawn.
- Notable Locations & Strategies:
- Sewage Tunnels: Dark and narrow. Utilize your flashlight and stick together. Pox Hounds are a significant threat here, as their pounces are harder to dodge in confined spaces.
- Makeshift Camps: These areas often have multiple entry points and cover options. Use grenades and area-of-effect abilities to clear out clustered enemies. Look for Ammo Crates and Medkits near makeshift barricades.
- Underground Chambers: Larger, open areas that often serve as arenas for elite and specialist encounters. Psykers can use their Brain Burst effectively in these spaces.
- Enemy Intel: Expect a high volume of Poxwalkers, Dreg Ragers, and Mutants. Trappers are particularly dangerous in the dark, narrow tunnels. Keep an ear out for their distinctive cackle.
