Chapter 7: A Dark Escape

Overview

Chapter 7 sees Kiryu facing dire consequences for his actions, forcing him to make a desperate escape from the Dojima Family. This chapter is heavily story-driven with several combat encounters and a chase sequence. Ensure your health items are stocked up and your fighting styles are upgraded.

Walkthrough

Part 1: The Interrogation

The chapter begins with Kiryu in a precarious situation. There are no immediate combat encounters, but pay close attention to the dialogue and cutscenes as they set the stage for the escape.

  1. After the initial cutscene, you'll regain control of Kiryu. You'll be in a confined area.
  2. Proceed forward through the linear path. Another cutscene will trigger, leading directly into a fight.

Part 2: Escape from Dojima HQ

This section involves a series of fights as Kiryu attempts to break free from the Dojima Family headquarters. Focus on crowd control and utilizing your Brawler and Rush styles effectively.

  • First Encounter: Dojima Thugs (x5)
    • Location: Main hallway of Dojima HQ.
    • Strategy: These are standard thugs. Use your Brawler style for wide swings and Heat Actions if available. Prioritize enemies with weapons if they appear.
    • Recommended Upgrades: "Finishing Blow F-Guard Break" for Brawler can be very useful here.
  • Second Encounter: Dojima Enforcers (x3) & Thugs (x4)
    • Location: A larger room, possibly an office space.
    • Strategy: The Enforcers are tougher and can block more effectively. Switch to Rush style to quickly get behind them or use quick combos to break their guard. Keep an eye on the regular thugs trying to flank you.
    • Item Suggestion: If your health drops below 50%, consider using a Staminan X or Toughness Light.
  • Third Encounter: Lieutenant (x1) & Dojima Thugs (x6)
    • Location: Near an exit, possibly a stairwell.
    • Strategy: The Lieutenant is a mini-boss type enemy. He has more health and can deal significant damage. Focus on taking out the regular thugs first to avoid being overwhelmed. Once they're down, use your Beast style to grab and throw the Lieutenant, dealing heavy damage. Look for environmental objects like chairs or tables to use as weapons.
    • Reward: After defeating the Lieutenant, he may drop a Staminan Royale.

Part 3: The Chase

After the intense fights, Kiryu will initiate a chase sequence. This is a QTE-heavy segment that requires quick reflexes.

  1. A cutscene will lead into the chase. Pay attention to the on-screen prompts.
  2. QTE Sequence: You'll need to press the indicated buttons (e.g., Circle, X, Square, Triangle) at the correct time to avoid obstacles and outrun your pursuers. Missing too many QTEs will result in a failed attempt and you'll have to restart from the beginning of the chase.
  3. Environmental Interactions: Some QTEs will involve interacting with the environment, such as jumping over fences or sliding under barriers.
  4. Final Confrontation: The chase culminates in a final, smaller combat encounter.
  • Final Chase Encounter: Dojima Thugs (x4)
    • Location: A narrow alleyway or street.
    • Strategy: These thugs are relatively weak after the chase. Use your preferred fighting style to quickly dispatch them. This fight is more about finishing the sequence than a challenging combat encounter.

Part 4: Aftermath and Preparation

Once the chase is complete, Kiryu will find a temporary safe haven. This is a good opportunity to recover and prepare for future chapters.

  1. You'll be given a moment to explore a small area. Look for a nearby convenience store (e.g., Poppo or M Store) to restock on health items and possibly purchase some new gear.
  2. Consider visiting a payphone to save your game.
  3. If you have any unspent CP (Completion Points), visit the Shrine or Temple to unlock new abilities or upgrades for your fighting styles. Prioritize health and attack upgrades for your preferred style.
  4. A final cutscene will play, concluding Chapter 7.

Key Items and Locations

  • Health Items: Always carry a good stock of Toughness Light, Toughness Z, and Staminan X. These can be purchased from any convenience store.
  • Weapons: While Kiryu is primarily a brawler, picking up environmental weapons like Bicycles or Cones can be very effective in crowd control during the Dojima HQ escape.
  • Money: You'll earn a decent amount of yen from the combat encounters. Use it to upgrade your abilities or buy more recovery items.

Tips for Success

  • Master Your Styles: Switch between Brawler for groups, Rush for quick dodges and single-target pressure, and Beast for heavy damage and environmental weapon use.
  • Heat Actions: utilize your Heat Actions when your Heat Gauge is full. They can turn the tide of a difficult fight.
  • Environmental Awareness: Look for objects in the environment that Kiryu can use as weapons or to trigger Heat Actions.
  • Save Frequently: Especially before entering major story segments or after difficult fights.
