Chapter 8: Tug of War

This chapter sees Kiryu back in Kamurocho, facing the fallout of the Empty Lot situation. Be prepared for some intense confrontations and a significant shift in the narrative.

Part 1: The Tojo Clan Meeting

  1. Head to the Tojo Clan Headquarters: After the initial cutscenes, your first objective is to make your way to the Tojo Clan Headquarters. It's located in the northern part of Kamurocho, easily identifiable on your map.
  2. Confrontation at the Entrance: As you approach the headquarters, you'll be stopped by a group of Dojima Family thugs. This is a mandatory fight. Focus on using Kiryu's Brawler style for quick, powerful attacks, or switch to Rush style if you need to dodge and weave through the crowd.
  3. The Meeting: Once inside, a series of important cutscenes will play out, detailing the political machinations within the Tojo Clan regarding the Empty Lot. Pay close attention to the dialogue, as it sets the stage for future events.

Part 2: Tracking Down Oda

Following the meeting, Kiryu is tasked with finding Oda. This involves a bit of legwork and some information gathering.

  1. Ask Around Theater Square: Your first lead will point you towards Theater Square. Speak to various NPCs marked with a speech bubble icon. You'll need to talk to at least three different people before you get a solid lead.
  2. The Information Broker: Eventually, one of the NPCs will direct you to an information broker near the entrance of the Champion District. This individual will demand a payment of ¥100,000 for Oda's whereabouts. If you're short on cash, consider selling some valuable items or engaging in a few street fights.
  3. Locating Oda's Hideout: The information broker will reveal that Oda is holed up in a dilapidated building in the back alleys of the Hotel District. Mark this location on your map and proceed there.

Part 3: The Showdown at Oda's Hideout

This section culminates in a major boss fight. Ensure you're well-stocked on healing items and have your preferred fighting styles upgraded.

  1. Navigating the Hideout: The building is a bit of a maze. Follow the linear path, dealing with several groups of generic thugs along the way. These fights are good opportunities to build up your Heat Gauge.
  2. Mini-Boss Encounter: Before reaching Oda, you'll face a mini-boss, a particularly tough Dojima enforcer. He favors heavy attacks, so use Kiryu's Beast style to absorb hits and deliver powerful counters, or switch to Rush for evasive maneuvers and quick combos.
  3. Boss Fight: Oda
    • Phase 1: Oda is a fast and agile opponent. He primarily uses quick jabs and kicks. Your best bet here is to use Kiryu's Rush style to match his speed, dodging his attacks and landing quick combos. Watch for openings after his longer attack strings.
    • Phase 2: Once his health drops to about 50%, Oda will become more aggressive and start incorporating more powerful Heat Actions. He might also try to grab you. Be ready to quickstep out of the way. If you have any Heat Actions available, this is a good time to use them for significant damage.
    • Recommended Items: Bring several Toughness Z and Staminan X drinks. A few Sushi Set or Bento Box items can also be helpful for mid-fight recovery.
    • Strategy Tip: Don't be afraid to use environmental objects if available. Throwing furniture or slamming Oda into walls can create valuable openings and deal extra damage.
  4. After the Fight: A series of dramatic cutscenes will unfold, pushing the story forward and revealing more about the Empty Lot's true significance.

Part 4: Return to the Office

With Oda dealt with, Kiryu needs to report back.

  1. Head to Tachibana Real Estate: Make your way back to Tachibana Real Estate in the northern part of Kamurocho.
  2. Final Cutscenes: Another set of important cutscenes will play, concluding Chapter 8 and setting the stage for the next chapter's events.
