Location Specifics
While Kamurocho remains a familiar stomping ground, Yakuza 6 introduces the picturesque, yet dangerous, town of Onomichi Jingaicho. Each location offers unique challenges, hidden collectibles, and strategic opportunities for Kiryu.
Kamurocho
Kamurocho, Tokyo, serves as your initial base of operations and a frequent return point. Its dense urban environment is perfect for quick engagements and utilizing environmental hazards.
Key Areas & Strategies:
- Theater Square: Often a hotspot for gang skirmishes. Utilize the numerous street signs and vending machines as throwable objects. Look for the Staminan Royale behind the large billboard near the Millennium Tower entrance.
- Pink Street: Narrow alleys and tight corners make this area ideal for quick escapes or ambushes. Keep an eye out for the Toughness Infinity hidden in a dumpster near the Smile Burger.
- Shichifuku Street: Home to various shops and restaurants. The roof access points (often marked by ladders or scaffolding) can provide tactical advantages for ranged attacks if you're using a firearm, or a quick escape from overwhelming numbers. A Sacred Tree can be found on a small balcony overlooking the street, accessible via a nearby building's fire escape.
- Millennium Tower: The iconic landmark. During certain story missions, the interior offers multi-level combat. Always prioritize taking out enemies with firearms first from higher ground if possible.
Kamurocho Item Checklist:
- Health Items: Staminan Royale (Theater Square), Toughness Infinity (Pink Street), Tauriner ++ (various convenience stores).
- Equipment: Rusted Chain (found in back alleys, useful early game), Reinforced Vest (purchasable at Le Marche).
- Collectibles: Sacred Tree (Shichifuku Street), various key items for substories (check your map for exclamation marks).
Onomichi Jingaicho
Onomichi Jingaicho, Hiroshima, offers a stark contrast to Kamurocho with its hilly terrain, winding paths, and a more serene atmosphere that often belies its underlying criminal tensions. The environment itself plays a significant role in combat and exploration here.
Key Areas & Strategies:
- Jingaicho Main Street: The central hub. Use the elevated walkways and staircases to gain positional advantage during street brawls. The Onomichi Ramen shop is a great place to replenish health and gain experience.
- Temple Grounds: The serene temple can become a chaotic battleground. The stone lanterns and wooden structures are often destructible, creating useful debris. A God's Right Eye can be found near the main temple building, often requiring a bit of exploration around the perimeter.
- Fisherman's Wharf: Open spaces near the docks allow for wider combat maneuvers. Be wary of enemies pushing you into the water, as it can lead to instant defeat in some scenarios. Look for the Lucky Charm hidden amongst the fishing nets.
- Rooftops and Alleyways: Onomichi has a complex network of rooftops and narrow alleys. These are crucial for accessing hidden areas, escaping pursuers, and finding rare items. Always explore every accessible rooftop. A Dragon's Eye is rumored to be on the highest accessible rooftop overlooking the harbor.
Onomichi Jingaicho Item Checklist:
- Health Items: Onomichi Ramen (Jingaicho Main Street), various local delicacies (purchasable at local shops).
- Equipment: Fisherman's Charm (found near the wharf), Antique Katana (reward for specific substories).
- Collectibles: God's Right Eye (Temple Grounds), Lucky Charm (Fisherman's Wharf), Dragon's Eye (Rooftops), various unique local souvenirs for completionists.
General Location Tips:
- Environmental Hazards: Both cities are filled with objects Kiryu can use in combat. Pay attention to traffic cones, bicycles, signboards, and even large pieces of furniture. These can turn the tide of a difficult fight.
- Exploration is Key: Many valuable items, substories, and experience opportunities are hidden off the beaten path. Always check behind buildings, in small alcoves, and on rooftops.
- Mini-Map Awareness: The mini-map will often highlight points of interest, such as shops, restaurants, and active substories. Use it to navigate efficiently and identify potential threats.
- Safe Houses: Kiryu's apartment in Kamurocho and the Ryunan Shrine in Onomichi serve as safe houses where you can save your game, change clothes, and sometimes store items.
