New Game+ & Post-Game Content
Congratulations, Dragon of Dojima! You've navigated the treacherous waters of Kamurocho and Onomichi, uncovered the truth, and brought Kiryu's final saga to a close. But the fight isn't over yet! Yakuza 6: The Song of Life offers robust New Game+ and post-game content to keep you engaged, whether you're aiming for 100% completion, seeking ultimate power, or simply want to revisit your favorite haunts.
New Game+ Explained
Upon completing the main story, you'll be prompted to create a Clear Save Data file. Loading this file from the title screen will allow you to start a New Game+. This mode carries over a significant portion of your progress, making subsequent playthroughs both more manageable and an excellent opportunity to tackle higher difficulties or missed content.
What Carries Over:
- Experience and Stats: All your accumulated experience points (EXP) and character stats (Strength, Agility, Spirit, Guard, Charm) will transfer. This means Kiryu starts strong, allowing you to focus on unlocking new skills or maxing out existing ones.
- Skills: All learned skills, including Heat Actions, Battle Skills, and Life Skills, will carry over.
- Inventory: Your entire inventory, including weapons, armor, healing items, food, and crafting materials, will be available from the start. This is particularly useful for rare items or powerful gear you might have acquired late in your first playthrough.
- Money: All your yen will transfer. No more struggling for cash in the early chapters!
- Completion List Progress: Any progress made on the Completion List (e.g., minigame scores, substory completion, food eaten) will carry over. This is crucial for achieving 100% completion.
- Clan Creator Progress: Your Clan Creator army, including all recruited leaders and members, their levels, and your overall Clan Creator rank, will transfer.
- Troublr App Progress: Any completed Troublr missions will remain completed.
- Friendship Levels: All established friendships with various NPCs across Kamurocho and Onomichi will carry over.
- Baseball Team Progress: Your baseball team's roster, stats, and league progress will be retained.
What Does NOT Carry Over:
- Story Progress: You will start from Chapter 1 of the main story.
- Substory Progress: All substories will reset, allowing you to replay them or complete any you missed.
- Story-Related Items: Key items essential to the main plot will not carry over.
- Equipment from Story Characters: Any equipment temporarily given to other characters during the story will not be in your inventory.
New Game+ Strategies:
- Legend Difficulty: New Game+ is the ideal way to tackle the challenging Legend difficulty. With your maxed-out Kiryu, you'll be much better equipped to handle the tougher enemies and bosses.
- Completion List Focus: Use New Game+ to mop up any remaining Completion List entries. This could include specific minigame challenges, finding all food items, or completing all substories.
- Experiment with Builds: With all your skills and money, experiment with different fighting styles or weapon loadouts without the pressure of early-game resource management.
- Speedruns: For the truly dedicated, New Game+ provides the perfect platform for speedrunning the main story, especially on lower difficulties.
Post-Game Content: Premium Adventure
After creating your Clear Save Data, you can also select "Premium Adventure" from the title screen. This mode allows you to continue playing in the game world without the constraints of the main story. It's essentially a free-roam mode designed for completing any remaining side content.
Key Features of Premium Adventure:
- Open World: Both Kamurocho and Onomichi are fully accessible, with all their shops, minigames, and activities.
- No Story Missions: There are no main story objectives to pursue, allowing you to focus entirely on exploration and side content.
- All Carried Over Progress: Similar to New Game+, all your stats, skills, inventory, money, and completion progress from your Clear Save Data will be available.
- Substory Completion: This is the primary mode for completing any substories you missed during your main playthrough. Simply wander around and look for exclamation marks on the map.
- Minigame Mastery: Dedicate time to master all the minigames, from Baseball and Clan Creator to Spearfishing and the Live Chat. Aim for those high scores and unlock all associated rewards.
- Friendship Events: Continue to build friendships with various NPCs by visiting their establishments or completing specific tasks. Maxing out all friendships is a common goal for completionists.
- Hidden Bosses: Some of the toughest challenges in the game are only accessible in Premium Adventure. Be on the lookout for rumors of powerful foes, often tied to specific substories or locations. For example, the legendary Amon clan boss fight is typically a post-game challenge. Prepare thoroughly with top-tier gear and healing items before engaging them.
- Item Collection: Hunt down any remaining Locker Keys, find all the hidden treasures, and complete your collection of gear and consumables.
Premium Adventure Checklist:
- Complete Remaining Substories: Check your Completion List for any unfinished substories. Many of these offer unique rewards or unlock additional content.
- Max Out Clan Creator: If you haven't already, lead your Kiryu Clan to victory against all six bosses and achieve the highest rank. This will unlock powerful abilities for Kiryu in regular combat.
- Achieve Baseball Dominance: Win the Hiroshima League and recruit all available players to form the ultimate baseball team.
- Master Minigames: From the Batting Center to the Mahjong Parlor, aim for perfect scores and unlock all associated trophies/achievements.
- Find All Locker Keys: There are 100 Locker Keys scattered across Kamurocho and Onomichi. Collect them all to unlock valuable items.
- Defeat Amon: The ultimate challenge! The Amon fight typically becomes available after completing all other substories. Prepare for a brutal multi-stage battle. Ensure Kiryu's stats are maxed, you have the best available gear (e.g., Dragon God Scarf, War God Talisman), and a full stock of healing items like Staminan Royale and Tauriner Full.
- Complete the RIZAP Training Regimen: If you haven't, finish all the RIZAP training sessions to maximize Kiryu's base stats.
- Finish the Troublr App: Complete any outstanding requests on the Troublr app for additional experience and rewards.
Whether you choose to dive into a New Game+ for a fresh challenge or explore every nook and cranny in Premium Adventure, Yakuza 6 offers plenty of reasons to keep playing long after the credits roll.
