Money Making: Late Game & Post-Game
By the late game and especially in the post-game, your money-making needs will shift from basic gear and healing items to funding powerful weapon upgrades, expensive summons, and the substantial costs associated with maxing out your party's jobs. Here's how to keep your wallet fat and happy.
I. Business Management: Ichiban Confections
Your primary and most consistent source of late-game income will be the Business Management minigame. If you haven't already, dedicate time to progressing this storyline. Reaching the top rank (Rank 1) and completing all associated substories will unlock the full potential of this venture.
- Maximize Shareholder Meetings: These are your biggest payouts. Aim for a perfect score every time. Invest in strong employees with high Charisma and Intelligence for the presentation phase, and ensure you have a balanced team for the Q&A. A well-managed business at Rank 1 can net you millions of yen per meeting.
- Automate Property Management: Once your properties are well-developed and your employees are leveled, you can largely automate the daily operations. Focus on upgrading your best properties and assigning high-level employees to them to maximize passive income between shareholder meetings.
- Strategic Investments: Don't be afraid to invest your profits back into the business. Upgrading properties and hiring better employees will lead to even greater returns in the long run.
II. Battle Arena & Sotenbori Battle Arena
The Battle Arenas, particularly the Sotenbori Battle Arena unlocked in the post-game, offer excellent rewards including rare crafting materials and significant cash bonuses for completing floors.
- Sotenbori Battle Arena (Floors 21-30): Each floor offers a substantial first-time clear bonus, often in the hundreds of thousands of yen. Repeated clears of higher floors can also yield valuable items that sell for a good price at pawn shops.
- Item Drops: Keep an eye out for enemies that drop valuable items like Platinum Plates or Gold Plates. These can be sold at any pawn shop (e.g., Ebisu Pawn in Isezaki Ijincho) for a quick influx of cash.
- Equipment Sales: You'll accumulate a lot of duplicate or unwanted equipment from arena battles. Regularly visit a pawn shop to offload these items. While individual pieces might not be worth much, the cumulative sales can add up.
III. Vocational School Exams
While not a repeatable money-making method, completing all the Vocational School Exams provides a one-time substantial payout that can be very helpful in the late game.
- Completion Bonuses: Each exam passed grants a small sum, but clearing all exams across all categories (e.g., Sports, History, Music) will reward you with a significant lump sum of several million yen.
- Stat Boosts: As a bonus, passing exams also boosts Ichiban's personality stats, which can indirectly help in Business Management and other activities.
IV. Part-Time Hero Quests (Post-Game)
After completing the main story, more challenging Part-Time Hero quests become available, offering higher rewards.
- "Sotenbori's Strongest": This series of quests involves defeating powerful enemies in Sotenbori. The rewards for these can be quite generous, often including large sums of yen and valuable items.
- "Kamurocho's Strongest": Similar to Sotenbori, these quests in Kamurocho also pit you against formidable foes for significant monetary and item rewards.
- Repeatable Bounties: Some of the tougher enemy bounties can be repeated, offering a consistent, albeit smaller, income stream compared to Business Management. Target enemies that drop high-value items or have higher base rewards.
V. Dungeon Crawling: Yokohama Underground & Kamurocho Underground
The optional dungeons, particularly the Kamurocho Underground Dungeon unlocked in the post-game, are excellent for farming both experience and money.
- Enemy Drops: Many high-level enemies in these dungeons drop valuable items like Platinum Plates, Gold Plates, and rare crafting materials that can be sold for a good price.
- Safe Keys: Keep an eye out for enemies that drop Safe Keys. These keys unlock safes scattered throughout the game world, which often contain high-value items or powerful equipment that can be sold if not needed.
- Boss Encounters: The bosses at the end of each dungeon section often drop highly valuable items or large sums of cash upon defeat.
By combining these methods, primarily focusing on maximizing your Business Management profits and regularly clearing the Battle Arenas and post-game Part-Time Hero quests, you'll find yourself swimming in yen, ready to tackle any challenge Yakuza: Like a Dragon throws your way.
